PRAYING SUNNAH/FASTING DURING SHABAN
Someone recently posted this question on journals. I am sorry i forgot your nick so i cannot reply to you directly so i am posting it here, hoping you will come accross it and read it.
I asked two very reputable scholars your question and they replied:
Your Question:" I WAS WONDERING ARE WE SUPPOSE TO DO SUNNAH PRAYERS LIKE PROPHET MOHAMMAD (PBUH) OR THEY VOLUNTARY. I DO WITR PRAYER BUT I WAS WONDERING ABOUT SUNNAH PRAYERS AND WHAT ABOUT FASTING IN SHABAN. I THINK IM GOING TO FAST THIS YR IN SHABAN THE WHOLE THIRTY DAYS INSH'ALLAH. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE WHOLE THIRTY DAYS OR JUST MONDAY AND THURSDAY FOR THIS MONTH BECAUSE RAMADAN COME IN RIGHT AFTER SHABAN LET ME KNOW WHAT U THINK. SALAM."
Hamadi Alaslani: "About the sunnah ,let us do the required sunnah after and before salah. about fasting the whole month of Shaban, it is not allowed but only you can do most of it. my advice do three days per month or monday and thursday."
Assim L. Alhakeem: "Praying Sunnah is a Sunnah. If you do it, you are rewarded. If you don't, there are no sins involved. Nevertheless, good Muslims
maintain praying it. As for fasting the whole of Sha'ban, one must avoid fasting the last day or two so that there would be an interval before Ramadan."
