Pre-Lota

Have you ever thought about what it must have been like way, way back in the day (pre-running water, pre-softsoap, pre-plastic lota from Target, pre-clean towel, pre-flushing toilet) to grab water from the well in a wooden leaky bucket, carry it to the local hole in the ground, squat over the hole, wash yourself, and then clean your hands with God-knows what ? Thank God we live in the blessed age of running water, indoor plumbing, and plastic lotas...

Hahaha! U sickos! :P I remember back when I was little in England we used to have an empty glass milk bottle in each toilet for a lota. Im not a big fan of these plastic watering cans I see in pakistani homes.

o any of the ladies in here feel that the lota method of cleaning yourself isn't completely hygienic? Women are not supposed to let themselves stay damp "down there." So do most of you dry off with toilet paper AFTER using the lota? I certainly do...I especially hate the feeling of water dripping down my legs when I am finished and stand up.

The "adult baby wipes", or "personal cleansing cloths" are much better for women than a lota, when it comes to Number One. I am addicted to them. Much more hygienic than a lota.

i went to sargodha (a village in pakistan) and i heard that before they used to take newspaper with them, and sometimes due to water shortages they wouldn't have enough water to flush, so u would have to throw a handful of sand on your creations *:
