Professor Kevin Warwick lecture
Professor Kevin Warwick of Reading University
lecture at University of Westminster,
Harrow Campus, HA1 3TP
Monday 17 October 2005, 6.00pm -
Known as Captain Cyborg to the Media, described by Gillian Anderson of X- Files as the "leading prophet of the Robot Age", in his last cyborg experiment Professor Warwick accomplished neural system to neural system communication with his wife, in addition to manipulating external objects over the internet via neural signals alone.
Professor Warwick is the new breed of Fusion AI scientists - man and machine fuse and become cyborgs, an area of Artificial Intelligence that lies between the proponents of STRONG AI (robots inherit the earth, humans become extinct) and WEAK AI (robots will only ever be tools for human use)."

You are unacquanted with Kevin Warwick's neural-system to neural-system experiment hence your argument, that animals have that particular communicative media, is null and void; unless by "non-humans" you now mean automata.
Anyway, I have neither the time nor the inclination to continue this debate here further, pray continue with yourself by all means!
I'll have to read up on Warwick...
And in the sense you claim for animals, humans have that ability (i.e. sensing what another is thinking within a contextual situation, not necessarily knowing exactly)
I suggest you read Professor Warwick's I, Cyborg, if you're interested.
