Props to the Praiseworthy

We find alot of things that alot of leader are doing wrong. How about a place to give props where props are due.

For the Many british folk, and other non-American speaking peoples of the world:

definition form urbandictionary.com
props :
Proper recognition, giving proper respect to a person or group, Used for supports to Boobs to prop them up.Specially when they are loose and hanging down.

obviously i intend this journal in the spirit of "respect" rather than that last definition.

news.bbc.co.uk props to argentina's supreme court, for striking down amnesty laws that protected war criminals from justice. The courts are supposed to serve the cause of justice, too often this trust is violated in favor of the strong at the expense of the weak. Props to you Judge Cavallo, thanks for starting this, and lets hope for a domino effect throughout the rest of South America.

Props to Fidel who decided to distribute 400,000 electric toasters to the Cubans. Wicked-mad props there actually! Now all they need is bread and electricity ... And trading Doctors for Oil? Wow! Genius piece of capitalism there!

I can't think of a leader off top my head - but, I predict that anyone a person lists will be countered by at least one other person (or more) as non 'propworthy'. :P

castro- props for health care and education, big huge negatives for political prisioners, rigged election, censored speech and press. chavez won 3 elections (actually 1 election, a recount, and a second election within months of each other, and the ppl had to pull his butt outa jail so he could run the country. Chavez, as yet, doesn't censor people, and though he has a military background www.freerepublic.com but did not use the military to take power, and did not use his loyal military to fight the coup, which, in reality he probably could have done without too much difficulty. it was a bloodless coup and a bloodless counter coup. and both was because he didn't want to fight the first, and the people rose to help him in the second. much blood could have been spilled, he gets props for not spilling it.
___________________________________ _________________________ here is a guy who really doesn't like chavez (i'm trying to be fair here www.newsmax.com ) and i do worry that chavez seems to be building up a military, www.miami.com very worrysome.... but spreading literacy to the people, and giving out free books and healthcare to the poor well... props to chavez. and note, he didn't give out some sort of propagande peice, L'autaro a novel about a native indian rising up as a single hero to get rid of conquistadors (based in argentina) would have been more nationalistic, and more militaristic, definetly propaganda. as it is his people love him, and it looks like he is workign for them, not the pertro-companies, not foreign or local special interests. Let the middle eastern dictators, monarchs and assorted self aggrandizing rulers take a page out of this guys book, lets do a jihad against illiteracy. www.commondreams.org

plato would you put castro in this category of laudable leaders also chavez idolizes castro in certain respects

ps all those doctors are actually cubans....hugo and fidel reached a deal.....but i agree with you castro gave his people free health care and education......not much political freedom but i guess its a trade off same goes for chavez i feel that he has an autocratic style as well but your assessment is fair i guess

i give you Hugo Chavez, so far, an overall great leader, who does his job, which is to work to benefit the people of his nation, not just a select few, not just the rich, not just his croonies.
Giving away a million copies of Don Quijote de la Mancha, is a prop worhty feat. the Venezuelan's love this guy enough, that when he was jailed by US supported opposition, the people went and got him out of jail and exiled the leaders of the failed coup.

He gives away books, produces physicians to work in the barrios and slums, and is expanding education like never before.

Props to Hugo Chavez. may he be rewarded in this life, and the next.
