Public or Private?
Education.
Essential for mental and spiritual development.
The education of our youth is critical and a factor that every parent ponders upon. How fit are the schools? How knowledgeable are the faculty members and how well do they teach? Does the school have the essential tools and are up to date in technology?
With the vast amount of schools all over the country, be them public or private; would you send your children to a public or private school? Or would it not matter to you?

Again I agree with TK that you still need to keep an eye on them. In Qatar (where I am right now) I established a English KG and School. Although the sponsor support the project for the last six years, I believe it is a huge responsibility and challenge. It need a coollaberative effort of businessmen and official support in order to face such chalange.

You really can't generalize schools in the United States.
You have schools that run very efficiently and you have schools where teachers show up to baby sit for the day and collect paychecks.
It is based on management.
I would send my children to private school but I would still keep an eye on them. There are a lot of crazy things that happen in private schools on the students level.
Mona, that's where a lot of peoples opinion differ. From what I have heard, many Islamic schools are not as organized as public schools. Sometimes, there is no set cirriculum. I've even heard that the children are just as wild and disrespectful as in public schools. Now, I don't know much about it or how truthful it is. There are many schools out there, so I'm assuming it would depend upon the school. Each school is different.
I personally plan on teaching in an Islamic school iA(private), therefore, want my children in one. At least they will have an Islamic education in school and at home, but they will be able to be in more of an 'Islamic atomosphere', or so I hope.
Even though I didn't go to schools here except university but I prefer private schools as I attended them in Syria. I can only imagine the amount of specialized teaching methods and the competitive edge kids will get from private schools compared to public schools.
