Qalandar

Pani Pani Kar Gaee Mujh Ko Qalandar Ki Yay Baat,
Tu Jhuka Jab Gair Kay Agay, Na Tan Tayra, Na Ma'n

Na Takht-o-Taj May Hai, Nay Lashkar-o-Sipah May Hai

Assalam alaikum Shahzella Sahiba !
Ghurdgaaon...well there is one place called Gudgaaon near New Delhi which has developed into a commercial hub now. Have been there, doesnt even seem as if u r in India with all the shopping malls and arcades. If you ever plan to come to India, please do let me know :) Inshallah you wnt find the Bhopalis lacking in their hospitality.
Yeh Mudassar Saheb kahaan ghayab hain?

The most amazing thing abt Naseeb is not jst us, but almost everyone on naseeb holds the same view abt this place, lekin we all choose to be a part of the crowd dat deserves the blame.
Ever since I saw Ankahi as a kid, I was besotted by Sana Murad, the character played by Shehnaaz Sheikh and my interest in Pakistan and Pakistanis grew by leaps and bounds. My Mamu who lived in Karachi recently passed away and my dream of going and meeting him there died with him. One of my friends who is a very popular figure here introduced me to this site and I said..."khud raah banaa lega..behta hua paani hai" and refused to add her to my friends list . So m still trying to make friends..without compromising on my principles n values

Farhan Sahib:In deed all Water Bodies of the Indo Pak sub-continent lead to the same Ocean. My own interest of India has reached an all time high . I too want to say Fehteha at my paternal grandmother's grave in Ghurdgaoun near Dehli. And yes Shehnaaz sheikh indeed represents the spirit of Pak. A little comprimise now and than never hurt anyone!! a fact, that has made a believer out of me. :)

FARHAN SAIHIB: You share my exact sentiments about naseeb : Athough the verse is beautiful, but you do yourself an injustice.

Assalam alaikum Shahzelle !

I am on naseeb to make friends, have fun and exchange ideas. :) I guess finding like minded people is one of the toughest jobs in the world.

Na koi khwaab humare na tabeerain hain..
Hum to paani pe banayee huee taswerain hain..

Mudassar saheb, to tell you frankly I had real high hopes frm this site but I have found the people to be extremely AVERAGE in their thinking and outlook.

Aapki unsiyat ki nazar ....bohat hi kamm alfaaz main aik koshish jo saraasar sirf meri samajh par mushtamil hai.

To understant the shair..Kaafir hai tu...Taqdeer e Ilaahi, one has to first understand the difference between MUSALMAAN and MOMIN. Musalmaan basically means a "subject", one who is under authority or control. Where as Momin is someone who has submitted his will to Allah in totality.
Allama says, if you are a Kafir, a non believer, you are a subject of ur own destiny and u r bound by ur fate. But, if you are a Momin in the true sense, Allah's will is your will and your will is Allah's will. A resonance of the same thought can be found in.. "Khudi ko kar buland itna.....bata teri raza kya hai".

Kindly correct me if my interpretation, which I mention again is totally based on my understanding of these lines, is flawed and you think otherwise.

Wassalam

Well your posts made me go thru ur profile and I was pleasantly surprised by the end of it. Well someone frm Pakistan, in Pakistan laying claim to not knowing enuff Urdu to understand Iqbal seems STRANGE enuff. As far as western orientation is concerned, its jst a state of mind. I am neither an authority on Urdu poetry nor do I know Iqbal well enuff to comment on his work or to explain it.

jazztune:Unfortunately my childhood orientation was a little western, and hence my mannerism. But my soul is Desi. I am willing to learn. You already have taught me the dif.Iqbal is a good starting point....I am all ears.

Walaikum assalam,

Well i have been surfing the net for some time now and somehow can decifer the tone of the words typed and people say am real good at that. I dont lay claim to be right every time but i have more hits than misses. And maybe there was something abt ur words dat made me feel the way that i have mentioned. Waise..where did CULINARY SKILLS come here?
There is no ART in interpreting poetry. First of all you need to know the language and have a particular orientation of thoughts. You need to understand the background of the poet as well. Allama is one of the finest urdu poets and to understand his poetry in its true essence, one needs to make a sincere effort at FEELING his words.
