I hate to interrupt the hadith-a-day, but I was wondering if anyone hear know where I can obtain information about hadith, particularly on how hadith was collected.

I have read a book called "Differences of the Imams" which deals with some of this issue if I remember correctly. It is a bit technical but not a difficult read. It may help, and it's not very expensive.
