Question about heels

I know this is a rather trivial issue but nonethless, I was curious to see how people would respond.

question for the ladies: Say you are married to (or considering) someone who is taller than you when you wear flat shoes, but you are taller when you wear heels. Would you on your own decided NOT to wear any heels to avoid being taller than your man? If you enjoy wearing heels and yourself don't mind being taller than him, would you think it is unfair for him to demand/request that you don't wear heels?!

question for the boyz: Would you ask your lady to not wear heels if it makes her taller than you? If so, what is your issue with her being taller than you....does it make you feel less manly, because other people will talk etc..... whats the reason?

Waseem LOL... she'd be a basketball player...

I have a problem with short guys..I feel the guy has to be at least my height when I do wear heels... these days being shy of 6 feet doesnt cut it.. the guy has to be 6' plus....

heel are cool. but if a girl wore heel and was taller than me then she'd be 6'4. i guess she'd still be sexy if she was sexy without them.

i like girl that were trainers though.

If it REALLY bothered the guy that you were taller than him, then you could hang up your stilettos and save them for nights out with the girls ;) But hopefully, most guys aren't that insecure...

I met Taz for the first time at the Charity Dinner on Sunday :) Intelligence, did you decide to go too?

Taz....I NEVER wear heels to be taller either.......it just looks WAY better sometimes depending on what you are wearing!!!!

.....and that whole kidman/cruise thing, her comments were totally below the belt, especially since she often wore heals anyways.

wellllllll, it'd always be up to me and i'd always be the final say about it....but i could see myself wearing shorter shoes sometimes just to feel a bit more fem around my man. if he asked me to, i could also see myself accomodating him sometimes if i cared enough about him. BUT that doesn't mean i wouldn't wear my big heels on days i was feelin it either! ;) i like heels! in either scenario it'd be up to my mood. insecurity, while natural, isn't super desirable so i would hope that it would never play that big of a role in the relationship...

I never wear heels to look taller, I wear them because they are pretty shoes or because my trousers are too long (Zara cuts)! lol I prefer wearing flats myself but I'll wear whatever depending on my mood and my outfit. I have never ever thought about wearing flats or high heels to please someone else. I don't find heels particularly comfortable (old ankle, knee and back injuries!) but if I'm going to a sit down meal or a party or an office meeting (!) then I think they look nicer sometimes. The issue of weather one should avoid wearing heels if the person one is with is shorter... well, I think people are people in their own right, individuals. I know for a fact that EVERYONE is equal in the grand scheme of things, so why should height etc matter? Some are taller, some are shorter, some are fatter, some are thinner. Shouldn't we just make the most of what Allah SWT has bestowed on us and forget about these little hang-ups and insecurities? In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter much. I don't think someone has the right to demand that you wear certain things or not, but one should be considerate to other's feelings and if one is in a relationship and you know for a fact that your husband/partner has an issue with you being taller than him, well it can be a problem if you continue to wear heels. One thing that comes to mind is when Tom Cruise divorced Nicole Kidman... She was obviously very upset by the whole case (of her husband 'running off' with another woman) and one of the things that she was reported to have said was 'Well at least I can wear high-heel shoes now'. It was perhaps said as a slight 'snub' on her ex but all the same, goes to show it was always an underlying issue and some sort of bone of contention!

Foxglove: I agree with what you have said on the last part that its for me to decide, but if I decided to wear heels anyways do you think that would be insensitivity on my part?

I enjoy wearing flats, so I'd put them on most of the time. I guess I'd wear heels to sit-down events, so that no-one notices his comparative shortness :P The guy shouldn't demand that you stop wearing heels though - that's only for you to decide.
