ramadan cometh


yes, alhamdulilah, ramadan is coming. inshallah on 4 oct 2005, ramadan will be here again (pending moon confirmations). for those who will be observing the holy month, id like to make a proposal. those without family and/or friends who are muslims (yes, you popular ones are NOT invited... j/k) id like to suggest that we get together for iftar and prayers inshallah. if you are interested in joining a small group of fellow muslims and breaking saum (roza) together, please do contact

we neednt have iftar together everyday because im sure everyone is busy-busy, but fell free to join us for a few meals inshallah. we can meet up to go together to the masjid, each others homes or an occasional take-out.

hope you will join us if you will be alone this ramadan!

and please remember to donate to hurricane katrina relief orgs.

Last time when a few of you came, i didn't have a chance to talk to you b/c that was the biggest iftar we ever had, and i was busy trying to make sure things were running somewhat smoothly. so maybe this time i can actually *talk* to you :)

If anyone is interested, harvard med school is having their last iftar of ramadan tomorrow at iftar time in vanderbilt hall. Feel free to come. If you need more details, drop me a line.

I ordered Biryani when i had aftaar at my store and its awesome. Actually two days ago my partner Zulfi had a party at his new apartment and we ordered biryani, tandoori chicken and chapli kababs from them. I think they have the best food (Pakistani) in town inspite of having a modest place to serve.
Taugi, you are right, those pathans over there are so humble and down to earth.
Definitely worth eating for the price you pay.

saider, they actually have been doing a bit of catering--mit and other orgs. and i am having them cater again for me next week. so i hope that is helping them out.

yeah, a lot of people attend the uni. events but not everyone is on the same time schedule, unfortunately. i can break fast on time, but when i have a chance to sit down and eat, its usually later. oh well. ramadhan is almost over now anyway...

well, if you are interested, brookline, and if you are not busy, im having an iftaar gathering next tuesday. it is being given in my 'official capacity' but friends are always welcome. good food, great company. let me know if you want to come :) if any of the bostonians want to come, just message me.

we had iftaar at boston kabob and pizza last night. there was NO one else there. and i realised last night, the owner/workers are really cool. please consider having your first meal with them.

i guess i also ate at the restaurant a few days ago too. hence the realisation.

I had a friend coming tonight and not sure exactly when she will get here. She said around 4pm.
If you guys decide on a place, call me (Taugi has my number) and let me know where you're meeting. If my friend is up for it, we can drive in. Of course I will have my little sweety Kayson with me. :-)

Shuq, I work in Lexington and live in Billerica, so I can meet you anywhere around here. Since you live in Waltham, thtas pretty close too. Just let me know where you want to meet at least a day before so I can make sure my ex can keep my son. Or I could bring him with me...he loves to be out and socialize...I think he might get my genes in that dept. :-)

I might be a little late getting there since I may have to pick up my son from daycare in case his dad can't. Otherwise I will be there.
