Beauty XXV {Khalil Gibran}

And a poet said, "Speak to us of Beauty."

Where shall you seek beauty, and how shall you find her unless she herself be your way and your guide?

And how shall you speak of her except she be the weaver of your speech?

The aggrieved and the injured say, "Beauty is kind and gentle.

Like a young mother half-shy of her own glory she walks among us."

And the passionate say, "Nay, beauty is a thing of might and dread.

Like the tempest she shakes the earth beneath us and the sky above us."

The tired and the weary say, "beauty is of soft whisperings. She speaks in our spirit.

Her voice yields to our silences like a faint light that quivers in fear of the shadow."

But the restless say, "We have heard her shouting among the mountains,

And with her cries came the sound of hoofs, and the beating of wings and the roaring of lions."

At night the watchmen of the city say, "Beauty shall rise with the dawn from the east."

And at noontide the toilers and the wayfarers say, "we have seen her leaning over the earth from the windows of the sunset."

In winter say the snow-bound, "She shall come with the spring leaping upon the hills."

And in the summer heat the reapers say, "We have seen her dancing with the autumn leaves, and we saw a drift of snow in her hair."

All these things have you said of beauty.

Yet in truth you spoke not of her but of needs unsatisfied,

And beauty is not a need but an ecstasy.

It is not a mouth thirsting nor an empty hand stretched forth,

But rather a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted.

It is not the image you would see nor the song you would hear,

But rather an image you see though you close your eyes and a song you hear though you shut your ears.

It is not the sap within the furrowed bark, nor a wing attached to a claw,

But rather a garden forever in bloom and a flock of angels for ever in flight.

People of Orphalese, beauty is life when life unveils her holy face.

But you are life and you are the veil.

Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.

But you are eternity and you are the mirror.

I love this song by Peter Gabriel:::

love I get so lost, sometimes
days pass and this emptiness fills my heart
when I want to run away
I drive off in my car
but whichever way I go
I come back to the place you are

all my instincts, they return
and the grand facade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

in your eyes
the light the heat
in your eyes
I am complete
in your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
in your eyes
the resolution of all the fruitless searches
in your eyes
I see the light and the heat
in your eyes
oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light
the heat I see in your eyes

love, I don't like to see so much pain
so much wasted and this moment keeps slipping away
I get so tired of working so hard for our survival
I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive

and all my instincts, they return
and the grand facade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

in your eyes
the light the heat
in your eyes
I am complete
in your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
in your eyes
the resolution of all the fruitless searches
in your eyes
I see the light and the heat
in your eyes
oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light,
the heat I see in your eyes

Our real blessings often appear to us in the shapes of pains, losses, and disappointments, but let us have patience, and soon we shall see them in their proper figures.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there
I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glint on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the autumn rain
When you wake in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of birds circling in flight
I am the stars that shine at night
do not stand at my grave
and weep
I am not there
I do not sleep

Dawn
An Angel robed in spotless white
Bent down and kissed the sleeping night
Night woke to blush
the spirit was gone
Men saw the blush
and called it dawn

I don't know the title or singer of this song, but a good friend of mine recorded it for me some time ago, and it was he who was there for me during some hard times.
I am not any longer in touch with the person unfortunately.

Always remember my friend
The world will change again
and you may have to come back
threw every where you've been

When your life was low
you had no where to go
people turned there backs on you
and everybody said that you were threw
I took you in
I made you strong again
put you back together
out of all the dreams you left behind along the way
you left me shinning
Now your doing well
from stories I hear told
you own the world again
everyones your friend
although I never hear from you
still its nice to know
you use to love me so when your life was low

Passing By
By Mila
I missed a friend I never knew
I called and the machine replied
sorry I missed you
I sat beside a stranger, a fellow passenger on the bus
I thought of what to say
in silence the whole way long
and I missed the friendship between us
I thought of a joke I did not get and things I did not know....I thought of the time I arrived late and missed half of the show
I noticed everything I missed but somehow could not catch the things I never did.

A Conceit
By Maya Angelou
Give me your hand
Make room for me
to lead and follow you
beyond this rage of poetry
let others have this privacy
of touching words of love
and loss of love
For me
Give me your hand

/poem regarding moons/

i have loved and loved and now, i have lost again.

the pain tends to weaken as time passes

this grin i wear was once a tattered old frown

but i have mended the seams..to renew this face

to create a smile

milton said it best,

"sweet intercourse of looks and smiles: for smiles from reason flow"
indeed!

such truth trickles from my mind.

i have loved and loved and now i have lost again.

but tomorrow,

TOMORROW

i shall love again.
