We can pull a Mike Myers a la Linda Richman and 'discuss amongst ya'selves' after we're done.
I should join it when i can afford to give in to these temptations :(
I need to meet her now and tlak about a few things, i love her insights and her crude and honest outlook. very intelligent and passionate woman
"Writers imagine they cull stories from the world. ..it's actually the other way around. Stories cull writers from the world...Fiction and non-fiction are only different techniques of storytelling. For reasons I do not fully understand, fiction dances out of me. Non-fiction is wrenched out by the aching, broken world I wake up to every morning."
I think if you are a writer from that part of the world, and you attain such prominence on the world stage - you must feel some pull to use that prominence for the greater good. She has picked her battle. God bless her.
Also, if you meet her on the street, never call her a writer-activist. She hates that. :)
That book took a lot of writing and i think she realises there are more important things in life, and her non fiction work is awesomeeeeeeeeee.
Have you read any of her non-fiction?
Too bad she's not writing fiction anymore. :(
