Revenge of the Sith
Anybody going to see it tonight (opening night) ? Let's get some reviews after you see it...
I found the last sequences far more touching than the 'nooo' scream, and I actually was more moved by Vader as he stood watching the building of the death star - showed how far the movie had gone from Ani to Vader.
As far as the end scene where Anakin in Darth Vader's suit screams "noooooooo" upon learning that Padme is dead...well, I thought that was really sad, not "uber gay" at all. Many critics didn't think that that scene was silly at all. Here is a passage from a
review of the film, written by a critic named James Berardinelli,
which reflects exactly how I felt at the end of the
movie, and the aspect of the movie that affected me
most profoundly: "It's necessary to say a word or two
about Darth Vader. After all, Revenge of the Sith
shows us the birth of one of the 20th century's most
iconic villains. By avoiding excessive reverence,
Lucas makes the first appearance of the black mask and
costume a moment of profound sadness. In that moment,
we aren't so much experiencing the emergence of Vader
as we are seeing the final death throes of Anakin.
And, while there's an admitted thrill to hearing the
voice of James Earl Jones, the content of some of
Jones' lines is unlike anything we have previously
heard from the voice-box of Vader. Not all eyes will
be dry by the end of Revenge of the Sith. It has an
emotional kick that no Star Wars film other than The
Empire Strikes Back has achieved."
MC - haha, I so agree about the nooo part hehe and yeah, Lucas is infamous for his sucky 'love' scenes - that whole bit w/ her brushing her hair and him watching - BARF, lol. Best of the 3, but I can't really 'compare' it to the the latter 3 in the sequence, they are just different to me.
I had extremely high expectations of this but must say was a tad disappointed. It could've done with a bit more emotion at the key moments in the film. But brilliant nevertheless..
hayden christensen and natalie portman are such great actors, i completely blame george lucas for botching up and not being able to use them to their potential.
the end scene where what's left of Anakin in Darth screams out a NOOOOOOOOOOOO upon learning of padme's demise was uber gay! i wanted to smack him around.
saw it....way better then the last two, but still horrible compared to the first 3. having said that, great special effects! and yeah all the bollywood love scenes made me puke!
Harleyquinn, the romantic scenes between Anakin and Padme made me cringe also...It was disappointing to see Natalie Portman doing such a bad job as an actor...after all, she was Oscar nonimated for her role in "Closer." Yeah, that line was really cheesy. But other than the painful romantic scenes between Anakin and Padme, I loved the movie. The ending was very emotional and had a deep impact on me. The movie has been classified as being in the genre of a "tragedy" by many critics.
They wrapped things up too convieniantly, so much so I though that they could have done without the last 10 minutes of the movie. And I prefered the action sequences in the past movies; in Ep.3 there was just too much detail to let you focus on the main action. Sometimes less is more.
It was 100 times better than Episode I and 50 times better than Episode II. Thank God that Jar Jar Binks is nothing but a painful memory from the past...haha.
eh it was ok--prolly the best of the series, but i felt pretty disconnected from the fight scenes--and there were definitely more of those than necessary..
Paradise, no offense - but supershadow's web site has been discredited quite a bit in the Star Wars circles. Here's a link w/ some info, as well as reviews of diff SW web sites. www.starwarz.com
Check out this website...it has anything you have ever wanted to know about the history of the Jedis and the Siths, and even has the entire script of Revenge of the Siths! supershadow.com
The film was amazing...so much better than I expected, since Episodes I and II were not good (ok, Episode I was just plain awful). Episode III was very tragic. The film can easily be classified as a tragedy. I had tears in my eyes during the very end of the film. It was extremely touching. It is definitely the best Star Wars film out of all 6, except for The Empire Strikes Back.
