It is the beginning of eternity,
The end of all time and space.
The beginning of every end ,
And the end of every place.

Good one Sahadat!
Here's another one:
At night they come without being fetched,
In light they are lost without being stolen.

okay clever clogs. what's this?

it cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
cannot be heard, cannot be smelt.
it lies behind stars and under hills,
and empty holes it fills.
it comes first and follows after,
ends life, kills laughter.

sahadat. the hobbit was a fav book of mine too!

the first riddle is a fish on a table, a man on a stool and a cat getting some food.

the second riddle is a fish.

the third is an egg. tho it's not technically a box is it?!

the fourth is teeth.

nope - got it from the first line - any riddle that talks about 'beginnings' usually means the first letter of a word...

Here are some classic riddles from The Hobbit:

No-legs lay on one-leg, two legs sat near on three legs, four legs got some.

Alive without breath,
As cold as death;
Never thirsty, ever drinking,
All in mail never clinking

(hint: both of these have the same answer.)

A box without hinges, key or lid,
Yet golden treasure inside is hid.

And my favourite:

Thirty white horses on a red hill,
First they champ,
Then they stamp,
Then they stand still.
