I think Coldplay and radiohead are different. Radiohead has a distinct dark melancholic tone, which is absent in Coldplay's music.

Muse's Absolution is like mutated heavier Radiohead.

I heard that each song on the Jet CD is supposed to be in the style of some other rock band. Like that one "Take my photo off the wall" song sounds just like something the Beatles or Oasis would do. But then, there are other songs that are like the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and others (see Amazon review). I think that's what that band's strength is, but it also lacks something that might materialize with another album. I'm hopeful they may do something awesome.

OK, Hot Hot Heat is totally a rip off of the Cure, but (and I may be wrong) I think they're very up front about it. And Oasis is the same way with respect to the Beatles: if you go back to the first album, there's a song that totally starts off like Imagine and there's numerous other references to the Fab Four. What ticks me off is Coldplay. Ah, Coldplay, how I hate thee for thine chicanerous ways! I got that first album and listened to it like 3 or 4 times, when I suddenly realized that Coldplay is nothing original. It's a blatant, in-your-face rip off of Radiohead and Travis. Being a huge Radiohead fan, that was the last time I played Coldplay. The good news for Coldplay fans is that, as long as Radiohead's making music, Coldplay will have a large body of material to shamelessly lift.

Adema (Linkin Park) or a shitload of bands (Alice In Chains). Hot Hot Heat (The Cure), Coldplay (Radiohead, sorta), Oasis (The Beatles)... to name a few.
