ROOKIE RUNNING BACKS

Well it seems Ricky Williams is about to rejoin The Miami Dolphins very soon. What do you think this does as far as impacting the value of Ronnie Brown, both in fantasy terms as well as real life football?

Also, assuming Ricky returns and takes away carries from Brown, who do you feel is the rookie RB with the most starting as well as productivity potential (obviously the choices would be Brown, Cadillac, Benson, or J.J. Arrington)?

I like the idea of a mock draft. However, it would definitely be an advantage for rookie owners.

also, I have been receiving messages from Sportsline saying that the league has not been paid for. I had asked about the cost before; what is the status of that? do we split the cost and if so how much??

You guys wanna do a couple of mock drafts before the season starts??? We can use the message boards in here. All we gotta do is get everyone together at a certain time. Practice makes perfect and I don't feel like joining a couple of B.S. Yahoo leagues this year just cause I wanted to draft a few teams to prepare for my REAL leagues.

Look the Eagles are the biggest bunch of choke artists in the NFL since the Bills. They are playing in one of the worst NFC conferences in quite sometime AND they still couldnt make it out of the NFC until this past season - ONLY AGAIN - to lose. Eagles are UNDERACHIEVERS! Btw, Outkast - sounds good - we can talk about the rules at ISNA.

Whoa. You are the first person to come to defense of those Eagles besides The Kid. They look more like rats with wings. Anyway, yeah so what? We been rebuilding. And yes, we did beat them in overtime in 2003. Tiki rushed for almost 200 yards that day. It was a Saturday, I believe week 16.

lol...yeah right outkast. eagles suck? they've been layin a beatin on your giants for what 4 straight years? actually, i think you guys pulled off an OT win back in 2002. either way, the NFC east should be a lot more competitive this year than last.

Can we talk about this at ISNA??? Maybe in person, I can pu to rest all your fears. And if not, I'll just beat it into ya! No for real though, we'll discuss all the rules to the league at ISNA and we'll compromise and figure out what needs to be changed and so on. Deal??? BTW-that pussy The Kid backed out of our league. Something about not being able to live down the fact that The Eagles have the worst fantasy players outside of T.O. and McNabb and when I told him taking David Akers in round 3 just cuz he was the top rated kicker was a dumb move, he freaked. And would somebody also tell him L.J. Smith sucks!!! While we're on the topic, The Eagles suck!

Amir - I was looking at your scoring system. Your system heavily favors the QB position. Also - why 15 rec yds for a WR is equal to 10 rushing yds for a RB? Another thing you may want to consider IS teams that have the worst records week after week get first crack at the FAs of the week OR have it based on where you pick in the draft - ie. Pick last in the first round - then pick first in week 1 of FFL FAs. Also, limiting the number of FA moves per week - this places more emphasis on your drafting skills. Just a few points that I had. Ultimately, if these are the rules I will adpat to it - BUT I just wanted to give my 2 cents.

We'll probably draft online around 2-3 weeks before the season starts. The league is very high scoring. Teams can score as high as 200 points maybe more. It's an offensive minded scoring system which is extremely generous. Especially if players hit the bonus ranges. Check the rules section on our league site for more.

Amir is right though I have played with 0.1 pts per carry, 0.5 per reception and 0.05 per completion. 0.5 pts per carry is way tooo high - but its his league and he is the commish so I will adjust to the rules.

1/2 a point per carry man. Also 1/4 point per completion and 1 point per reception. Believe me, it works out. You play Yahoo too much! Welcome to the big leagues.

i don't know...but should there be points for carries? receptions is understandable, but carries are pushing it. its like you can get points even whne you lose yards.

Wait a minute. Chucky loves CADILLAC now. He would have taken him #1 overall. Well no actually, #2 cuz I think he loved Alex Smith (for whatever reason) more. Anyway, Cadillac will have the job barring injuries. Garner's on his way out. He is done without question. Pittman needs a miracle. Maybe a little competition may wake him up and stop the fumbles. BUt yes, I too like the 2 Samer's had Pittman in my league and used him while Deuce McCallisister was out. He is not bad if you look at overall yardage, which by the way, in our league we do! We also get points for receptions AND carries so be aware of those factors.

Each of the rookies have to fight for a starting job - but the RB with the most immediate impact (first four weeks) will be Ronnie Brown. If he struggles against the first four opponents - Denver, Jets, Carolina, Buffalo - which is not impossible because the Dolphins SUCK - Ricky will be playing. As far as Benson, he has to outshine Thomas Jones which should not be impossible - he is only a one year wonder (when Rex was at QB). It will definately be by committee and with the Bears still in rebuilding mode - Benson will be the likely candidate to get carries. Cadillac Williams has to overtake Pitmann - should also not be that difficult - however, I drafted Pittman last year in Round 15 or so - and he paid off BIG TIME. Also, Cadillac has to overtake Pitmann and Garner - count'em 2 RBs and we know how much Chucky loves Garner. And JJ will beat out Shipp because AZ needs to rebuild and what better way than to bring all the youngsters out on the field together. Starting Potential - has to be Ronnie Brown. Productivity - Benson because he plays in perhaps the worst defensive division (well maybe not - NFC WEST Defense is about as strong as a wet paper towel) - Detroit and Green Bay's DEFENSE SUCK and Vikes D only looks good on paper right now.

haha yea Outkast man i thought my little cousin was saying the cigar was blueberry flavored cause it smelled so damn good, but never knew till afterwards he meant it was blueberry filled! lol jp...i mean out of all the rookies i think Brown does have the best chance to produce the most cause he's just the right built to be a productive rb, esp. with Ricky being out the first 4games, so Brown will get the majority of carries and their offensive passing game i think will be better than last year, so should pick up the yardage/td's...but i think picking up Ricky in the later rounds wouldnt be a bad idea just in case..Pittman last year was suspended also and i got lucky getting him right after Garner got injured during the regular season, and in the league i was in you did get good points for rushing/recieving yardage so worked out alright like that as my flex back(RB/WR), so who knows the same may happen with Ricky...and i agree on Cadillac having the potentiol to rip shyt apart, Garner probably wont be the same and maybe only the 3rd down back, and i doubt Pittman will be on the roster this coming year.

Yeah but I find it hard to believe that Thomas Jones will be a non-factor. In my opinion, Chicago had no business drafting Benson after what we saw out of Jones last year WHEN there was respectability at QB. The guy was stud until Grossman went down. Does anyone recall the numbers he was putting up? multi TD games to go along with 150 yards per outing, etc. It's gonna be interesting to see how that goes down. I think it will at least start out as a committee with Jones being the starter.

He's not gonna get $3 million for sitting on the bench. Lets get real.
