Salaam Namaste

Though I'm entranced by the classic feel of Parineeta...and don't want to shift into moderno gear...I must say I can not wait till the release of Salaam Namaste this Friday!
The movie is starring Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan.
Saif did an amazing job in Parineeta and Preity did really well in Veer Zaara. I wasn't really crazy about their performances in Kal Ho Na Ho so we'll see if this lives up to the hype.

Lubnah: I wish someone could deliver Indian movies to my door step so I can actually watch them. Its hard for me to go to desi places to rent them cause a) they have all these restrictions b) time is an issue cause I can never finish a Hindi film in a day unless I am in the theater c) they are not in my area.... Besides Hindi films, I am a movie addict. I can seriously watch a movie every day :) and I go to the theater once a week and watch at least 2 movies....talking about being a geek!! But I would love to see Parineeta esp. with Rani. She is a pretty good actress...

You know what, Bollywood needs to understand that they can never be Hollywood. They are always trying to copy American/Western movies and making them into Hindi films which is ruining the Indian culture. Instead of preserving the beauty of it, they want to make it like the western culture which doesnt suit them. Why not be original and focus on the Indian Culture...

The kissing scenes did look natural - a change for Indian movies. But the movie was very stupid - sorry. I mean, it starts off funny, and even the moving in part is understandable, but then it just swings in a different direction. Preity Zinta can't stop screaming, which is completely unnecessary and annoying.

Thank God Saif Ali Khan is a good actor and funny right into the outtakes. But the movie had no point. I mean her job had no relevance, her becoming a surgeon was really out there (unreal to show her as overambitous and yet never show her open a book??? I studied more than that doing my accounting degree).

But I am glad all the Australians were portrayed as normal decent people, and it was not a bashing of foreign pples as we usually see in our desi movies...what a relief!

Sorry, it's been a while since I loggedon and what more, I JUST saw the film. So , Yes, it is a copy of nine months, I saw the ocnnection quite soon, and it's also a copy of another movie (he moves in with her etc. after knowing her for a week). Well, Javed Jaffrey and Arshad Varsi were good, but My, God the was Abishek doing Robin Williams-that part really sucked - so overdone.

This is was a dumb movie. I agree with groovygirl I didn't like the kissing scenes - I was a little surprised about that. Right b4 the song Salaam Namaste after the wedding when the Australian guy says "Every1 outta ur clothes" I mean what's up with that?

It was unrealistic that Abishek Bachan did a pretty good acting job but he married the girl after knowing her for 1 night!!! Preity & Saif moving in after knowing e/o for 2 days.

I didn't think Javed Jafferey's Sorry - Exactly bit was funny!

I also didn't like that they would introduce each character, made it seem more artificial!!

Salaam Namaste was a really bad movie. I saw half way through and couldnt bare to watch it more...Had to seriously stop the movie. The scenes of Austrailia were beautiful. I would have loved to live in their apartment. But I think Preity looked really good. She has lost some weight and Saif, got his act, I mean his shape together ;) He had a nice tan and a good body. But you could tell that he is a major drinker...

I havent seen Parineeta as yet...one of these days when I have a desire to sit through a 4 hour movie, I know which one to watch :)

i totally agree with mahvish. i was like woaaaah. and shame on bollywood for their throwing decency out the window with putting love scenes and more and more kissing into movies. i mean hello you already have awesome songs, good actors, and the film shot in australia. why do you have to make her wear hoochiesh clothes *side note. um yea med school student right? who wears that? shouldnt you be studying instead of smooching?*

oh and was she supposed to be muslim? that opens a whole new set of issues for me.

i had to admit the 'wives...sorry...exactly' thing with that guy and the randomly odd things cracked me up but it got old fast

abishek bachan is really funny but that part would have made more sense if he was a resident who got stuck with the duty by mistake

Although the film in itself was quite entertaining and funny to watch, I am not so sure that the morality or social message delivered in this film is that digestable. I mean the girl is a doctor yet went around sleeping with some guy she JUST met. I mean I could not even get over the fact that she moved in with a guy she never even dated or got to know at ALL. Even whitefolk date for a few months before moving in together! Those elements were quite unrealistic.

Ppl it was so based on Nine months starring Hugh Grant! No1 saw the connection?? Come on! tho i gotta say Abhishek Bachchan did a fantastic job of doing the same role as Robin Williams, and Javed Jafferey totally cracked me up!
