Hi!
It is nice to meet Syrians here. Syria is Turkeys neighbor. I like Syria, but I have never been there. It will be good to make Syrian Friends.

I am a citizen of Turkish Republic, not Ottoman. Ottoman died in 1922.Indeed it has a glorious and justice past. It was a nice old boy. :)Never behaved like an Imperialist like France, UK. Ottoman didnt exploit their states, Syria, yemen, Balkans and North Africa.

and the Ottomans are the past, but a glorious past indeed...in the scope of empires, they had their ups and downs, their pros and cons as others have had too. Be proud of the history ! :)

I called my great grandmomther "Anna-jeem" which means "mother," i think, in Turkish. Either way, Syria is definitely not free...it's actually one of the most repressive states in the world..politically. It is not a client of the U.S., but that's only because the U.S. won't take it as one anymore...Change is on the way...but how fast, or to what end, no one knows.

Salam Deniz, I hope you didn't get the wrong impression of us bro. We didn't mean to imply that you support the Ottoman Empire or what it did, but we like to joke around a lot in this village. I'm sure we can all learn a lot from you. Turks are awesome people, very warm and kind, and our countries have very similar cultures. There's a good deal of Turkish influence in our culture, including some words that we use. I used to call my grandma, Allah yirhama, "Nana" not "Teta" (Teta is the word most Syrians use to address their grandmothers).

Dear Brothers/Sisters, Ottoman was in the Past. Now Old Ottoman nations have their independence countries. Ottoman will never reborn again. syria is an Independent Country and we respect you becauase of this, other Arabic regimes are not free as Syria. They are tied to US.I came here to make Syrian friends and know about Syria. We, Turks, are not Imperialists, in contrast we combat against the Great Imperials. I am not an Ottoman fan, ideologically, I am aN Independent Turkey fan.

I heard that some Turks back in the day of the Ottoman Empire, would wish to be buried in Sham. They'd say "Awwali Sham, wakhiree Sham."

My cousins ; thats true definition. We are historically relatives.Still two sides of borders live relatives.Syria has rich roots and your capital (sham) is one the greatest cities o the Islamic History.

Welcome welcome. i'm actually taking a final on the history of turkey-ish content tomorrow...today...in about 10 hours...and i can proudly say that i kno that about 10% of Turkey's population is made up of Kurds who have been wanting their own country for years...but...and if i remember this correctly (oh Allah, i better remember this correctly if the exam is tomorrow)...there is "no way in hell Turkey will ever let the Kurds have their own country"...my professor's words not mine...so...welcome, deniz!!

Salamat Deniz...most of us have Turkish ancestry and bloodlines as well, so it's good to see a distant cousin grace our village. Makes you yearn for the days of Ottoman glory, no? haha :-)
