Sarkar

Normally, any attempt to copy the Godfather classic would be met with extreme skepticism and even outright disdain.

Yet, for some reason you wish this movie had maintained an even stronger likeness to Cappola's classic.

Sarkar unwittingly tries to express it's uniqueness and this is where it falls. It demonizes Sunny's equivalent from the get-go and completely ignores the need to build any familial bonds with the estranged brother. In fact, the entire treatment of the elder brother's role is a huge disappointment and is the biggest let down for building the tragic character of Michael - in this case played by Abhishek.

Then again, this is an Indian movie and tragedy will be avoided.

But despite the skepticism, at the end of the movie, you do wish that it wouldn't have been all that bad an attempt if they stuck to Michael's story with a little more diligence.

Zehar, garam masala, no entry....movies noted.

DS: One cannot really reject Sarkar. On so many levels it remains faithful to The Godfather. But that botched up elder brother's (Vishnu?) character! :@

Totally uncalled for negligence!!!

it's not about gender silly...it's about good movie making...no entry and garam masala were def good movies for a comedy that is...but there are a plethora of those type that are churned out of the bollywood industry....hence not anything extremely different....parineeta (if you actually sat through it) was quite different....AND had the classic feel of old indian cinema...excellent script...excellent story...and excellent acting...
