Scholarship Opportunity: Health Information Management Systems

Dear Faculty Member:

The HIMSS Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Healthcare
Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), is dedicated to
reaching out to students to develop new leaders for the industry, to
industry professionals to assist their developmental needs, and to
partners who recognize the importance of health information in
improving
healthcare delivery.

This year, the Foundation is awarding seven scholarships totaling
over
$35,000 to students pursuing baccalaureate, master's or Ph.D.
degrees in
the healthcare information and management systems field. While the
specific degree program is not a critical factor, it is expected that
programs similar to those in industrial engineering, operations
research, healthcare informatics, computer science and information
systems, mathematics, and quantitative programs in business
administration and hospital administration will predominate. In
addition
to the scholarship, recipients receive an all-expense paid trip to
the
Annual HIMSS Conference and Exhibition. This is an excellent
opportunity
for students to learn more about the industry, as well as meet and
network with potential employers.

The HIMSS Foundation is requesting your assistance to inform your
students of this opportunity. The students we seek for scholarships
are
those who demonstrate academic excellence and the potential for
leadership. Eligibility requirements may be found on the scholarship
application. Attached are talking points to familiarize you with
HIMSS
and the HIMSS Foundation Scholarship Program for your discussions
with
students

We appreciate your assistance in helping the HIMSS Foundation reach
students. Thank you for supporting our program. We encourage you to
use
any or all of the enclosed materials, or pass them on to other
faculty
who may be able to use them. If you have any questions, please don't
hesitate to contact me at 312.915.9269 or

[email protected].

Cordially,

Erin Thornburg
