Scream!! "Rishta" horror stories

I know we all have 'em. We may not want to talk about them...some of them we may want to forget...but we all do have them. Horror stories about meeting prospective suitors. The "compoooter engineer" who was in the process of rewriting the internet. The "beautiful", "fair-skinned" girl who brought her ex-boyfriend's photos...Let's spill 'em, folks

I wouldnt say this was a rishta or whatever. More like an ambush. One of my closest friends mother took it upon herself to set me up. I went to her house on Thanksgiving only to find out that I was being led to the slaughter. The girl was nice enough, although she was like the superninja of everything (Civil Air Patrol, Med Student/Engineer, EVERYTHING). Her mother proceeded to grill me and then tell me all about her nasty divorce. The daughter mentioned that anyone she married was going to have to accept her mother living with them. Also the girl was really young.

She was a very nice girl, Febe. It was not her fault what happened to her. And it was obvious no one was helping her. She told me that she had mentioned it, without going into any details, to her parents and they both ignored it. Sort of that ignore it and it will go away attitude, I guess.

Thanks. But I just did what was the right thing to do. The poor girl had some horrible things happen to her and she needed someone to help her through it. We are very good friends now. I am very happy that she is doing well...

Sharing these horror stories are so liberating! Once This guy came to see my sister, and he brought one of his friends along. The guy himself was kinda cute, yet reserved but his friend was a chatterbox and kept flirting with me and my sister the entire time! It was so lame. He also looked like he walked out of the 70's wearing a checkered suit, with a button downed shirt (that he chose not to button down) so you could see his curly chest hair. EWWWW!!!! nasty nasty. After spending some time with them my sister and I just went upstairs to watch TV

Now that Javeria has brought up this story about speech impediments, I can feel brave enough to recant this next tale. I didn't know how people would take it...I am not trying to be mean...but here goes: I was introduced to a girl. Very nice girl, nice family, etc. We even had the "family date" night where we met her family including several cousins. All went well. Now as I started to get to know her, things started taking a turn for the weird. She would get very emotional on the phone (she lived in another state while I am in New Jersey) and be depressed, etc. Upon prodding, she finally let it all out. Apparently, her cousin (whom I had met at the "family date") had molested her for years while she was a young girl! WHAT! I was shocked. I would talk to her for hours (and I mean HOURS...the longest we ever talked was like 5 hours) and try to console her while she cried. One night I even 3-way called a rape assistance hotline and stayed on the phone with her and the counselor (because she didn't want me to leave). She would call me at 4am on a week day and cry on the phone. I felt very bad for her and tried to help as much as I could. But I couldn't go thru with the rishta. Not because she had been molested but because I couldn't even imagine starting my life with someone in this way: 5 hour phone calls, sitting on the rape hotline, etc. May sound mean to you, but just think about it. Life is hard as it is...we don't need to make it harder. Anyway, I called things off. We are still friends and get together every now and then. There is a happy ending here though...she has been getting counseling and is engaged to a very nice guy.

And, by the way, it's nice hearing from the usually quiet members of this village!

haha kaz...Ok so my latest "horrishta" story is a few weeks old. My cousin met the guy's mom and she "referred" them to my mom. My bechari mom slaved over the hot stove all day to make a 5 course meal for the family-blind-date. Well the family comes over and everything is going smooth until we all realize that the guy and his older brother have a HUUGE stuttering issue. Now, please don't get me wrong..and I'm trying not to be mean here...but for the duration of my conversation with the Older bro, I found myself leaning forward when he got stuck at a word, as if my leaning forward would extract the rest of the word out of his mouth. Needless to say, I was exhausted all night. I felt really bad for declining them...but I just couldn't do it..they were a very nice, educated and decent family...but I dont think they noticed their speech impediment. So, for the two weeks after that incident, my bro and sis thought it would be cute to call me "jjjjjjaveria." I'm gonna get even soon. muahahhaaha. (i don't mean to offend anyone out there...there are speechpathologists who need jobs. ok, thats mean)

My mom's favorite hobby these days is to send me a potential rishta picture everyday (good thing she doesnt know much about email filters to "Delete upon reciept"). The girls in the pictures are getting progressively younger and the day is not too far in the future when she will send me a sonogram as a potential "bahoo". She was not very amused when I cracked that it would be quite a sight on the wedding day in that case, "I hereby pronounce thee husband and wife...you may now burp the bride"

I will never forget this one.
This real gem of a person...Amma ka dullara, Abba ka pyara, and kuriyoun ki ankoun ka tara(you know too good to be true kind)
Anyways,it went pretty well, after all the usual hype n' gripe about making the two families meet.(the desi dude was not in town...u know the usual busy bee kinds)
Then after a few days the guy's mom called to ask, if the parties in question can talk one on one.
So the parties talked via telephones.
What's up with this 30 somethin Larka n' larki business anyways???Grow up ppl!!!
All in all the larki freaked out cause through out this so called chat session...the desi dude kept on dishing out these real freaky questions.
To begin with "What do your hands and feet look like"???
Do you wear nail enamels all the time?
What are your fav nail colors?
Do you wear high heels?
Are your hands and feet nice looking?
and to top it all with...Would he be able to see the assets in questions when they finally meet in person.(Yuck, yuck, and some more yuck.)
So on and so forth.Disgusted and revolted to the max...larki bailed out.
And the chapter "and they lived happily after" ended right there.
Would you blame the larki to gross out after feelin like a Sally Hansen manequin possessing only hands and feet???
Man what a creep!!!
