Selected HADITH related that Rasulullah (saw) said:

Abu Ya?la ibn Shaddad ibn Aws narrated that the Prophet (SAW) said: A wise person is one who keeps a watch over his bodily desires and passions, and checks himself from that which is harmful and strives for that which will benefit him after death; and a foolish person is one who subordinates himself to his cravings and desires and expects from Allah the fulfilment of his futile desires. (Tirmidhi)

* Zayd b. Thaabit and Ibn Mas'ood(RAA) narrates that Rasoolillah(SAW) said: "May Allaah brighten the face of a man who hears me and then relays to another who has not. It impossible that a carrier of knowledge is not himself knowledgeable, or that the carrier of knowledge will deliver it to someone more knowledgeable. Three things purify the heart of a Muslim. The sincerity in working for the sake of Allaah, taking-up the task of advising the rulers, and not departing from tbe group of Muslims."

* On the authority of Abu Hurayrah(RA) Rasoolillah (SAW) said: "Allaah is pleased with you on three occasions. (Firstly) when you worship Him and do not associate any partners with Him. (Secondly) when you hold fast, all together to the bond of Allaah and do not draw apart and, (thirdly) when you advise the good rulers whom Allaah had placed in charge of your affairs." (Muslim)

* Abu Hurayrah (RA) narrates that Rasoolillah (SAW) said: "A man went to visit a brother of his in another village. Allah (SWT) sent an angel to wait for him on the road. When the man came along, the angel asked him, 'Where do you intend to go?' He said, 'I am going to visit a brother of mine who lives in this village.' The angel asked, 'Have you done him any favour (for which you are now seeking repayment)?' He said, 'No. I just love him for the sake of Allah (SWT).' The angel told him, I am a messenger to you from Allah (SWT), sent to tell you that He loves you as you love your brother for His sake."' (Muslim)

* Narrated by Abu Huraira (RA): Allah's Apostle (SAW) said, "The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one who controls himself while in anger." (al-Bukhari, Vol. 8 : No. 135)

* ?There are only four kinds of people in this world:
(The first is) a slave whom All?h has blessed with wealth and knowledge, and he fears All?h with regard to them, and uses them to uphold family ties, and acknowledges the rights that All?h has over them. He has the highest status.

(The second is) a slave to whom All?h has given knowledge, but not wealth. His intention is sincere, and he says, ?If only I had wealth, I would do (good deeds) like so-and-so (the first slave).? He will be rewarded according to his intention, so their reward will be equal.

(The third is) a slave to whom All?h has given wealth, but not knowledge. He spends his money aimlessly, neither fearing All?h with regard to it nor using it to uphold family ties nor acknowledging the rights that All?h has over it. He has the lowest status.

(The fourth is) a slave to whom All?h has given neither wealth nor money. He says, ?If only I had wealth, I would do (bad deeds) like so-and-so (the third slave). He will be punished according to his intention, so their burden of sin will be equal.?

* Perhaps, a man who fasts in this world may come out with nothing more than hunger from his Fasting whereas, perhaps a man who gets up for Tahajjud Prayer in this world may come out with nothing more than staying up all night from his Tahajjud.

* The Prophet's (SAW) said: True riches is self-contentment.

* The Prophet (SAW) says: Whoever constructs, without causing oppression or aggression, or plants, without causing oppression or aggression, will be rewarded as long as the creatures of Allah, The Ever-Merciful, blessed and High Exalted be He, benefit from what he did.

* A Bedouin came to Rasul Allah and told him, ?Give me from what Allah gave you, not from the wealth of your mother nor from the wealth of your father.? The Sahaabah were furious at the man and step forward to discipline him for what he said. Rasul Allah commanded everyone to leave him. Then by the hand, Rasul Allah took him home, opened his door and said, ?Take what you wish and leave what you wish.? The man did so and after he completed, Rasul Allah asked him, ?Have I honored you?? ?Yes, by Allah,? said the Bedouin. ?Ash hadu an laa ilaaha illa Allah, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadar Rasul Allah.? When the Sahabah heard of how the man changed, Rasul Allah taught them. ?Verily the example of myself, you and this Bedouin is that of a man who had his camel run away. The townspeople tried capturing the camel for him by running and shouting after the camel, only driving it further away. The man would shout, ?Leave me and my camel, I know my camel better.? Then he took some grass in his hand, ruffled it in front of the camel, until it came willingly. ?By Allah, had I left you to this Bedouin, you would have hit him, hurt him, he would have left without Islam and eventually have entered hellfire.?
