Shayari in Punjabi
Salaams ...
We all know Urdu has to be one of the most beautiful, articulate and polite languages on gods earth. Most people would argue that its poetry is beyond parallel, but then again I doubt these people have read/heard Waris Shah's rendition of Heer or marveled at the simple and devastating beauty of Bulleh Shah or Sultan Bahu's kalaam.
I think were so dazzled by Urdus beauty that we dont notice its sister language of Punjabi ... i know most people consider Punjabi to be a coarse and harsh language but I disagree. I hope maybe by sharing some Punjabi shayari here we may prove that the words that flow from the land of five rivers are just as sweet and pure as its waters?.
aaj sabbhe `Qaido` ban gaye, husn ishq de chor
aaj kitthoN liaaiye labbh ke waris shah ik hor
aaj aakhaN waris shah nuuN, kitoN kabraan vichchoN bol,
te aaj kitaab-e ishq daa, koii aglaa varkaa phol

Na suhhan, na kam bakhede, vanje jagan saun.
Ranjhe nu main galliyan devan, man vich kara dua-i-yee,
Mein te Ranjha ei-koo koi, loka nu ajmayee.
Jis bele vich beli dissey, us diya lavan balayeen
Bulla Shah nu passey chhad ke, jangal val na jayeen
Nadiyon paar mulak sajan da, lobh lehar ne gheri,
Satgur beddi phaddi khalote, taen kyun layi a deri.
