I was raised in Qatar were Mr. Qaradawi live after he was forced to leave Egypt because of his ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Although I did not practice much of the Islamic duties at the time, I always enjoyed listening to Mr. Qaradawi's Friday speaches, or weekly shows.
I THINK THE ISSUE IS MORE ABOUT PEOPLE THAT TAKE LIBIRTIES OF CALLING OTHERS kAFIRS. Wehther its a highly respected personality like Mr. Qaradawi or a little person in Indoniesia for example. Unfortunatly Fanatics from every sect in Islam take libirties in calling others name and declare their Infadility. Ignorance, culture mentality, and lack of high standards of ethics, and many other reasons contribute to that.

Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi has many enemies for sure..because of his fatwas on mortgage and interest and such in the West. He makes the fatwas out of experience and seeing and appreciating where people live and what society they are in. Not blindly calling everything off as haram.

shazia, sheikh qaradawi is a prominent and highly respected scholar (egyptian) considered by both muslims and many westerners as a moderate voice of islam. (welllll except when it comes to issues such as palestine, many westerners see his stance on suicide bombings as extremist)

Love it! Someone else trying to play the role of God! Maybe this "brother" is in collaboration with the man I saw at Speakers Corner today who thinks there is One God and lots of little gods! Perhaps the "brother" thinks he is a little god!

who is the sheikh that you're talking about? some context and background please. there's always someone who believes they are higher on the ladder to heaven than you. doesn't matter who or what you are or what you do.

there is always a judge. which i find very sadly ironic
