Shin splints and flabby arms!

Salaams and hi everyone...I have a couple of questions and thought I might get some recommendations for you more experienced fitness people...

1). Whenever I am on the treadmill, I get shin splints (I think that is what they are called?). Do you think it might be shoes, the pace, my short legs, or the incline? I find the faster I go, or the higher the incline the more it hurts.

2). I have flabby upper arms! There is definitely muscle underneath but flab over it. How do you get rid of that, or tighten it. Is it going to be with weights or more cardio?

Thanks!

:)

Shin splints or sore shins are something that just goes away after you do about 1 consistent week of cardio. I guess you get used to it. However just in case, make sure you tie your shoe laces tight and change up your cardio every few minutes. Ex. Walk for 5 minutes, sprint for 2-3 minutes, then walk for 2 minutes, and then sprint for 4-5, etc. Always good to slow down for a minute or 2 to rest until you build up that stamina.

As for the flab, I myself have had the opposite problem. I have skinny arms, but they are pretty tight. I do 6 sets of rope pushdowns and 4 sets of close grip tricep flat bench pressess 2 days a week as my tricep exercises. Try it. Even if you dont like the close grip bench, ropes pushdowns are the basic fundamental building block for nice triceps. Keep us posted on the progress.
