so doc ur saying u getting married was the worst decision of ur life? I hope ur wife doesnt read wat u just wrote and u cheated on someone in third grade???!!!! where did u grow up and wat did they teach u at that school...toba toba....
cheating of any kind is horrible regardless of age, situation and circumstances...a lot of men use the line "im so unhappy with my wife, we fight all the time...i need an outlet...ur just the kinda person i needed" and it happens with women as well...they are not happy with their husbands and they look for other outlets as well...it happens more then we want to admit...its sad but its true...a husband and wife should respect each and work through their problems rather then find outlets...like i said before this sort of behaviour is something i would not be able to tolerate...my man is my man and if he's looking other places then he aint mine so then i say byebye

guys u get married n u get to know that marrying once is the worst decision of ur life so dont even bother abt thinkin of marryin twice. i had always been jealous of people who cud cheat i once tried it in 3rd grade and got caught and failed had to suffer detention as well.

If one wife is enough, then why do men cheat and have other women in their lives? Obviously it isn't enough for men so Allah (swt) makes them take responsibilty for their moments weakness.

one wife is more than enough. it can take a lifetime to know someone .... marriage is not just for procreation. else test-tube babies would do just fine.

The fact they would rather their husbands commit a sin rather than do something well within his rights and that is taking a second wife.

who are these women??? Mostly students of mine and /or collegues, muslim and non-muslim alike.

Allah (swt) allows them to take wives, He does not give them restrictions except in how to deal with multiple wives. But if we look at the sunnah of the prophet (saw) and many of his companions, they took other wives who were widowed and/or divorced.

Polygamy was never permissible for mere sexual variety. Polygamy is only allowed under certain conditions like when a woman is incapable of conceiving or a man takes on other wives as a means to help the poor or widowed.

As Choosa has stated, Prophet Muhammad only took other wives later on in his life as a means to form alliances (in an effort to spread Islam) and more over, with the exception of Hazrat Aisha all his other wives were, divorced or widowed women who were incapable of supporting them selves.

Why else would the verse immediately following the one permitting ploygamy clearly disuade people from doing so?

Moreover, I believe that the man ONLY has the option if his first wife allows it. A prominent Maulana at one of our local mosques actually allows women to put that clause in in their marriage contract (Nikah namaa).

Islam is a just religion and Allah is the Most Just. There is no blatant discrimination against women.

btw...I don't mean to demean the emotions involved...it obviously must hurt and suck to deal with your husband bringing home a second wife...
however i also do feel that polygamy was preserved as a "protection" for women..not something that is necessarily against women...
choosa...most men who do marry more than one...will agree with you...it's over rated...

If a man marries a second wife in a country that allows it...he then must financially support her as well (its her right)...a mistress has no such rights over the married man she is havig an affair with...
