Should I continue running?

I was dumb enough to jump off a 15-20ft shelf and landed on one leg...yehhhh not the smartest way to go....consequently I now endure pain in my knee, when I pray, and esp when I run...should I continue running with a neoprene knee brace or stop altogether. I realize a physician would be in the best position to answer this depending on the condition of the knee, but I would like to save myself the "take aspirin, and stay off it for a while" speech. Discuss...

....swimming is great as shiraz pointed out, it exercises all the muscles and you can have a "swimmers body" ;) but sometimes its hard to get access to a pool that is convenient...

stay off in terms of running, but if you swim, its a great week to keep the cardio up without hurting it too bad. also, some light biking or walking should be ok as well. next time you try to play tarzan, make sure you have something soft to land on.

listen to your body--when you're in pain, don't aggravate it. In the short term, you'll probably be fine, but in the long term, you could actually end up causing some damage and then you'll really be in a tiff . . .

..sorry to hear about your knee, i would suggest stop running and take up fast walking which puts less stress on your knees, too much abuse and soon knee surgery will be due...not to mention irreversible damage that will continue till your golden years...
