Singing to aunties....

I like to keep in contact with my friends and acquaintences in various ways. One of those ways is to call them regularly and sing songs and or act out certain wild characters in various different accents. I do this mostly to get them to laugh during their otherwise boring work-day. Only twice in my lifetime have people's mothers picked up the phone. The second time was about thirty seconds ago. I didn't realize it was her mother, and I began to sing. (Ace of Base anyone? How many of you just lost all respect for me?)

Ten seconds through my song I stopped and realized that it wasn't my friend. Her mother sounded so much like my friend that I thought it was her sister. Her mother eventually handed her the phone, and when expressing my embarassment to my friend she replied, "Oh that's okay, my mom knows I think you are a little bit crazy."

I asked to talk to her mother again and apologize, "Auntie, I'm sorry I'm a little bit weird, God made me that way."
And then the almost unthinkable happened. She requested another song.

So I sang her the theme song to Growing Pains. Her response: "MashaAllah, MashaAllah, MashaAllah"

Thank God for fun Aunties, eh?
