abshaw, when doing the jooti chupai, make sure the (groom's) male cousins are well away from the scene, so they don't leap onto the stage (on top of the bride's sister and female cousins who are extracting the shoe.. who then have to pass it to their brothers....

...who run along the length of the hall, pass it to their cousin, who then has to run through the hotel kitchens where the same idiot cousins of the groom are waiting to wrestle it from them).. at one point my sis had 4 boys and 2 girls practically lying on top of her on the stage.. very civilised i'm sure you'll agree :(

maybe if we'd made a boxing ring available such people would have got their combative tendencies out of the way b4 jooti chupai...

4. Ma pe sezee
5. Bibi Shireenay

P.S Abshaw you have yet to help me find 'Stargo da Janan ke zama khkulay jahanoona dee' by Takkar. Shakila Naz doesn't do justice to Ghani baba.

my wedding rasms were more than a bit farcical too, not in a funny way; the cameraman had to switch off his camera at one point saying 'aisi juti chupai to main ne aaj tak nahi dekhi'

I remember so many 'phaddey' (fights) on these rasams on wedding. I got 8 aunts and one mamoon... my nana strictly prohibited these stupid rituals... he thought nikah is all islamic practice and these are old hindu traditions.
i think these things are fun sometimes but alot of time cause misunderstandings that continues with in families of bride and groom through out the marriage. we desi people never forget if someone forget to give us a little attention.

In my joota chupai segment of my marriage, my ex's nana got into a heated argument with my cousin who was negotiating the sum of money.

Her Nana kept yelling "munda amerika se hai bhen chod!" Last time he repeated it bhen chod was added. My cousin quickly handed over an extra 1,000Rs to shut him up. ROFL
