spiritual help?

Hey guys. Does anyone know a place around here that i could learn tasbeeh or some other type of spiritual activity within Islam? Are there any groups that get together for tasbeeh or some kind of religious-philosophy discussions? Really needing some kind of "extra" spiritual practices and community - mourning my Catholic past a lot. :( Any ideas? I was told to look into the Sufi places here - but not sure which are "good" and not too new-age/hippie. :)

Thank you.
I live in El Cerrito and go to Berkeley

the thing is desiincali, if we are doing this type of thing that arafiq suggests, someone has to know the stuff and kind of start it, lead it, etc. Then, inshaAllah it will take off and be a regular group. I used to do a lot of spiritual groups as a Catholic, but obviously i'm totally ignorant in Islam. (Unless u guys want to discuss metaphysics according to the famous Arab philosophers - then i can lead!) So i nominate Arafiq786 to start it. If it is not too far from me (el cerrito/berkeley) and I'm not working or otherwise busy, I'll go (I'll even put it in PEN on my calender) and try it out. :)

No offence to ya'll, but all i have heard here on this village so far is all talk.
I tried to arrange meetings, noone seems to come. So lets make it happen! Put a date and a time and lets meet up.

I think that is a great idea, Arafiq! Like maybe the first saturday of every month? At a coffee shop or something?

thanks, muneera, but why would you not recommend it if i were sunni? (I'm not really sunni, shia or sufi) Why is it scary alone? Just because it is so different?
