Step 3 - Help!

Salam folks,

I need major advice studying for step 3!
I will be starting my intern year this july but I wanted to take step 3 before my intern year.

How did you guys study for step 3?
kaplan? swanson's for questions??

As per a few friends of mine who have taken step 3 recently, Crush Step 3 is on point. Also, with regards to questions, USMLE World questions and cases are great, so I hear... A lot of people say a good majority of their cases are quite similar to whats on USMLE world.

i meant 'prescription for the boards' for step 3. 'first aid for the boards was good for step 1. that is, back when i took it :)

amena- to take step 3, intern year is prob a good idea to get it out of the way. too many pple saved it for later, and had to study for step 3 while studying for the larger IM or whatever specialty boards. on the other hand, if ur doing FP, it has a hodge podge of it all and u maybe better prepared after doing your peds,ob, im rotations.

Any advice as to when you shoudl take Step 3? early in intern year or later?

i took this exam 7 yrs ago, and back then we used swansons fam practice. but i didn't think it was very helpful despite reading it twice cover to cover. too basic. i also read first aid for the boards which was slightly better. don't know what other new books are out there. also make sure to practice on the CD itself, esp on the interactive cases at the end, just to get used to the pace and get comfortable with where to order the tests and treatment.
