Stupid interviews

I haven't been to an interview for like 13 years and had one two weeks back. It was at a special school started by a church group. However, the salary comes from the government so I still feel the rezki is halal. Anyway, I have no idea what's the outcome .... I was asked some really sensitive questions that I really didn't know how to answer.. but to some, I was pretty blunt about it. If you guys are in my position how would you answer such a question?

Being a christian school and they do teach hymns, how would you address to the muslim parents who might be concerned that the child are singing christian religious songs. What if the parents say that they are afraid that their child might be really confused because they are intellectually slower than normal kids.

I really was caught not being able to answer that question professionally.. I think I answered some rubbish that I barely remember.

At this point, after that question, I don't even feel like working there cause I don't feel comfortable with the kids singing hymns.. I feel like telling the kids.. to just not say the verses.. open the mouth without voicing it.. and encouraging parents to tell the kids that. i know.. not professional...

Well after three months.. it's good to confirm that I didn't get the job!! ALhamdulillah in a way... But good news is I have a job interview next week and Alhamdulillah.. the principal was my old principal and the vice principal was an ex course mate of mine.. which I hope could work to my advantage.. insha Allah. Basically what makes me happy is that they won't be asking me stupid questions!!!

Yeah that's fair enough! Teach everything except the bible class.

Honestly it would be very, very confusing for children especially when they are younger. I think once they get older like around middle school age it probabily wouldn't even matter.

Personally I'm kinda against religous schools.. cause I feel the kids will grow up only with 'people like them' and have difficulty later in life living in the real world. Especially since most
'religous' people tend to preach bigotry with their 'everyone else is wrong and will go to hell' rhetoric.

Even when they're older this can be a problem. I've lost many friends who willingly brainwashed themselves blindly believing all the B.S. these college MSA's preach! Suddenly everything became haram & anyone not like them a kaffir!? and don't even get me started on all the social, emotional, and mental problems they develop! lol

Teaching religion should be the responsibility of the parents initially... a strong faith based on morals, values, character and compassion is really really important.

I grew up with singing silly Christmas songs, Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman, the Easter Bunny, the Great Pumpkin and doing the Hokey Pokey with Snoopy every saturday morning and I turned out alright!

Yeah I'd be more afraid of what they will learn at an 'Islamic' School.

I would simple let the kids sit and not participate in the singing of the hymns. But if a muslim parent sends their child to a christian school, what do they expect?? Their child is going to be confused because even if they don't sing the songs, they will still learn them by simply hearing them. Since the school is based on religious teachings, the children are bound to learn christianity. You can not fault the school for that, they are a chrisitan school. If I taught at a christian school, I would simple not teach religion in the class. I'm not a christian so I wont teach their faith.

Peace

I think be honest and tactful, always the best policy. I agree with you that I would not be comfortable with my kids singing Christian songs IF they promote non-Muslim ideas and ideals like trinity, Jesus is God, etc.
