Success is measured by height

Short people may be short-changed when it comes to salary, status and respect, according to a University of Florida study that found tall people earn considerably more money throughout their lives.

Do you think there is any truth in this statement? Is there any concrete evidence?

i've taken a couple of gender studies classes, and we've talked about stuff like this how different aspects of appearance can hinder or help your success, and its sad but you'd be surprised how much strong evidence there is to support things like this study.

success measured by confident and exprience. appearance is a plus to attract, but it's temporary attraction.

Same thing in Male making more money then females, whites earning more then any other color. University Of Iowa conducted a study on Monster.com, the biggest site for job placement. The study proves that one African American man, Kanyaan Jamal Jackson, very obvious by name that he is black, qualified and educated person. When he posted his resume with two different names. One with his real name and second was a typical white name, Micheal Nolan. Identical resume, but the different name. The resume with Micheal Nolan has 118 searches and his real named resume has only 13 hits.

well, i think the main thing to be "worried about" is our own pre-judgements and to try not to fall into the trap of (as someone said) "pretty is good" and judging based on superficial things and not the actual holistic reality.

And it merely means that some people (the disadvantaged) have to work harder than others. But that can also be a benefit, cuz it makes those people better at what they do, and thus more likely to get better results than the rest. in all, the people it really hurts are the averages--unfortunately ... but that's the way the world works. allah will equalize one day once and for all. nothing to be too worried about.

well, we gotta remember that these are probabilities. (1) some of the most successfull people in the world have been shorter--from tom cruise, salman khan, and several of the best financial industry leaders i know of ... to some of the most powerful political leaders of this world. (2) the height thing is surely in the US, but i definitely don't think it's in places that have a tradition of not looking at stuff like height (such as china, japan, the homeland, etc). other factors do come in tho. i think this post is more about the influence of superficial factors in general than about any one or two particular factors.

I think Height is more important for males, while beauty is more important for females.

there is also a beauty element about it... people tend to gravitate towards it... even if you are the type of person who doesn't outright judge by looks - and give everyone a chance, subconciously people act according to the "beauty is good" concept....

DAMMM Tariq!!! lol that was a hella breakdown. See, this is yet another reason why I'm more than a little doubtful of marrying a "hot girl." I don't want guys upon guys hitting on her left and right. Not that I wouldn't trust her, just that I wouldn't trust these haraami guys ... and I know there are many haraamis. I've seen it happen only too often, and it's just not fun for the participants.
