Sufi Books

Salamalaikum,
There have been many sufi books, some we may have read while others not. I thought we should share the books we read or found touching.
Her is what I liked:

- RUMI's DAUGHTER, by Muriel Maufroy
- IRSHAD: Wisdom of a Sufi Master, by Shiekh Mozaffer Ozak Al-Jerrahi Halveti
- Other books by Shiekh Mozaffer Ozak "The Blessed Virgin Mary, Unveiling of Love)
- Ofcourse, who can go pass Idreas Shah's books.

Any books you would like to share ???

MissMint,
i wouldn't catorgorize syed qutb's works as 'sufism'. he was a modernist who was much influenced by the works of afgani, abdou, ibn taymiyah, and al-bana (to name a few) (may Allah be pleased with all of them). Although al-bana does incorporate some sufi doctrines in his movement - the ikhwan (the muslim brotherhood), its very limited.

I just finished reading one of the best 'sufi' books i've ever touched- 'The book of illuminations' by ibn at'Allah. trans, scott kugle (i think thats his name). its part 1 of a 3 book series. i honestly can't describe how awesome this book is. just read it.

How is Syed Qutb...i havent read any of his book...just the commentary "In the shade of the Quran- Chapter 30 of the Quran'
He sounds very intellectual...yet sufi type. Any suggestions on his work? A 'must read' or not. ??

I would strongly suggest any book written by seyyed hossein nasr. dr nasr, in my mind, is one of the most influential 'traditional' writter in the world today. although his boooks dont say 'sufi this' 'sufi that', his mastery of sufi thought is amazing.
Dr. Chiticks books on ibn arabi and rumi are very well written as well.
