SUFISM PROGRAMME ON TV
DID ANY OF YOU SEE THAT PROGRAMME ON SUFISM ON TV,,,,,, THEY SHOWED HOW MUSIC AND RELIGION WERE CONNECTED,
IT SAID ISLAM, ORIGINATES FROM CHRISTANITY, MUSIC WAS A WAY OF REMEMBERING ALLAH,
THEY SHOWED LOADS OF DRUMS AND INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC BEING A WAY TO PRAISE AND PRAY TO GOD,,,,
IT WENT ON ABOUT, HOW SUFISM WAS SPREAD THROUGH QUAWALLI SINGERS NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN, PAKISTANI SINGERS JANOON, ABIDA PARVEEN,
THE MUSIC AND DRUMS CAUSED PEOPLE TO GO INTO A TRANS AND THEY WENT TO SAY THIS HELPED CURE A LOT OF ILLNESSES
THIS PROGRAMME WAS EXTREMELY INTERESTING A LOT OF WHAT WAS SHOWN IS QUESTIONABLE,,,
THIS IS ONE OF MANY SECT IN ISLAM,,,WHICH THEY SHOWED WAS SIMILAR TO THE CHRISTIAN FAITH!!

I feel its important for all of us to understand Arabic, understand the Quran and teach others.
I am slowly learning about different sect in Islam, i am not blindly following any that i don't believe in.
A few years ago i went through this phase in my life where i wanted to make sure that Islam was for me, i started studying and understanding other religions and had a lot of questions which no religion but only Islam could answer,
As muslims you are allowed to question your beliefs and not just follow blindly anything because your parents have taught you??
this is the way you learn the truth!!
IN JEWISH THEY WILL BE 72 SECT AND ALL OF THEM EXCEPT ONE WILL BE GOING TO HELL..
IN CHRISTANITY THEY WILL BE 70 SECT AND ALL EXCEPT ONE OF THEM WILL BE GOING TO HELL!!
I AM SORRY BUT WHAT I SAW ON TV, ABOUT SUFISM, I DON'T AGREE WITH ANY OF WHAT THEY DID,,,,WHAT I SAW ON TV, DEFIN HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ISLAM NOR THE QURAN BUT MORE WITH CHRISTANITY.
THEY TALKED HIGHLY ABOUT NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN,,, BY LOOKING AT WHAT HE PREACHED, WHERE DOES ONE THINK, HE ENDED UP IN,,,HEAVEN OR HELL????
SUFISM HAS PORTRAYED ISLAM IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT, IT BRINGS IN THE TABLA, SINGING, CHANTING, SHOUTING, WOMEN DANCING OPENLY????,,,,,,,, BUT IN MY UNDERSTANDING THIS IS ALL AGAINST ISLAM???
I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE SHOULD STUDY MOST OF THE SECT IN ISLAM AND LEARN ARABIC THEMSELVES AND THEN TRY TO UNDERSTAND THE QURAN THEMSELVES INSTEAD OF FOLLOWING ANY SECT BLINDLY BECAUSE ITS CONVENIENT FOR THEY CERTAIN LIFESTYLE,,,
Yet on the other hand, i still feel that sufism is misunderstood. we only see the whirling dervishes and the entranced people. This is most peoples idea of sufism, and it feels wrong and scary. But this is only one part of it, look beyond the exterior and there is a certain beauty and understanding to be found. I dont think the documantary even came close to that. Also many of us south asians owe islam as we know it today to the sufis. If it wasnt for them islam may never have reached many of us. So even though we may not be sufi's, we owe them more than we give them credit for!
NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN HAS DEFIN MADE REALLY GOOD QUAWALLIS AND HAS SPREAD A DIFFERENT LIGHT ON THE PRAISING OF ALLAH,,,,,,,,,
BUT FOR SOME REASON I WAS PROPER FREAKED OUT WITH THE FACT THAT PEOPLE WENT INTO FUNNY,,,,, I WENT TO A NUSRAT SHOW A FEW YEARS BACK AND ITS PROPER FREAKY WATCHING THESE PEOPLE LOSING THEY SENSES AND MOVING AROUND CRAZY,,,,,,,,,,,,,NOW THAT DEFIN IS NOTHING TO DO WITH ISLAM AS FAR AS I SEE IT!!!
Infact,my new JE is in the same vein...
