Summer in Chicago
This journal is an attempt on getting Naseebers together in the beautiful Summer in Chicago. As those of us who've spent a summer in Chicago know and those of us who are new may not have experienced, people come out, tan their pasty milky skin and the entire city comes ALIVE for about 3 months! The city reocgnizing this phenomenon - actually schedules many events for their residents, moreso than most cities. Last weekend, I went to Blues fest with a bunch of friends and it was awesome, I urge long time residents and new comers to this awesome city to really take advantage of these unique and FREE festivals and events! So get your friends together or meet some naseebers and explore Chicago together. I'll do my part by informing you about them and let you know that many of us and CAMP are planning outings for some of these events. I'll keep updating this journal as people bring up more events
NAVY PIER Fireworks - Memorial Day to Labor Day every Wed @ 9:30pm & every Sat @ 10:15pm..visible from a lot of places FREE!
Taste of Chicago - Grant Park - June 24-July 4
***Fireworks spectacular on July 3rd.
Taking it to the Streets - Marquette Park - June 25 imancentral.org (TEAM CAMP will be on hand as volunteers as well as Muslims from ALL over Chicago - FREE EVENT)
Chicago Outdoor Film Festival (Butler Field in GRANT PARK) Every Tuesday b/w July 12-Aug 23...8pm!
(CAMP will organize a movie night for E.T. on Tuesday August 2, we will have our own section reserved - FREE EVENT)
Another notable movie, Star Wars plays on Aug 23rd.
Venetian Night (Watch boats do their thing, all lighted up and performances too) on July 30th. This takes place on Lake Michigan starting at the river and ending up at Monroe Harbor. (CAMP will once again have a CAMP section all day - feel free to drop in as we will be situated on the East side of Lake shore drive by Monroe harbor - look for brown people)! FREE EVENT!
Chicago AIR & WATER Show - Aug 20-21
This is famous and way awesome! Im sure there will be multiple air and water show events by people who have condos and balconies by the lake, this is a free event and an amazing display of air mastery, from the blue angels spectacular to seeing Stealth and bombers, this event is sure to please. The best view of these planes is ANYWHERE along North Ave beach and Lincoln Park. FREE EVENT!
ISNA - Labor Day weekend at Rosemont convention center isna.net) Register, hotels are already selling out! This will be the largest muslim gathering and probably the largest naseeb get-together with now 40,000 plus Muslims Mashallah - There is a charge to attend the ISNA conference.
CAMP WILL HAVE THEIR ANNUAL DINNER ON ISNA SUNDAY EVENING ON THE MYSTIC BLUE Cruises. Join 200 plus Muslim Professionals from across the country as we hold our Annual Dinner on our own deck of this cruise ship! - there is a charge for this event. You can buy tickets by visiting: campnet.net
