Sunday Bike Rides

As salaamu 'alaykum.

Every Sunday (and sometimes Saturday) morning, weather permitting, I ride from 20-35 miles around the west river/kelly drive loop (insha'Allah). I would LOVE to have some company, even if your not an experienced or capable cyclist. I think it would be great fun to get a group together on the weekends to put some miles in. I can also assist in and teach the basics of bike maintenance, urban road/traffic saftey, and cycling technique. By all means let me know if you are interested.

You need to get out more. :)

Nida, for some reason your comment isn't showing, despite our being directly connected. Just catch me on AIM. :)

complicated prejudice? intruiging....and the next time you're riding around with ice on your beard, you must get someone to photograph you....in a few years when you're telling those uphill both ways in subzero temps stories it will help to have a visual ;-)

I refuse to rollerblade, its a complicated prejudice of mine. I am pretty much a bike or skateboard guy, every other sport bores me. By all means let me know if you want to ride, I am always up for putting in some miles.

i wud like more to learn roller blading (I think i want to break a knee or something) but i be willing to run along that stretch. but with my healthiness I think i am going to fall. if u r up for a run and then meet again back, i wud do that..or if u want to git some racquet ball.i'm in for that..i have not had enough pressure from friends to go do that..so keep up the pressure..i may cave in :)

lexlad: you should get yourself a bike! tis the season to ride ride ride. Personally, I ride all year round. I did my usual 20 mile home->work->jummah->work->home circuit once when it was between 9 and 14 degrees F (this winter)... I had ice on my beard, it was nuts :)

I do 80-120 miles a week, bro, on a track bike with no brakes and one very tall gear ratio. :) I will use my ipod when I ride BMX if there's a low chance of colliding with another rider, like when I am sessioning over at city hall. But on the road using headphones is not a good idea, especially if one is on a track bike... If you change your mind let me know. I am always up for riding.

That is good way to get out. I don't own a bike, so can't be a good company.
