Super Bowl XL

I'm calling it with seven minutes to go...

#6 Steelers vs. #1 Seahawks...

This is first time a team seed sixth, has made it to the Super Bowl, let alone won a game in the playoffs.

The last wild card playoff team to make it to the Super Bowl was the Broncos seed fifth, they went on to win the Super Bowl XXXII.

The Seahawks become the 26th team to make it to the Super Bowl.

Will the Steelers become the third team to win its fifth Lombardi trophy or Seatle win in their first appearance ever?

It doesnt really matter now - bad calls, no calls or the fact that the best qb steelers had was randle-el? This is Superbowl was indeed pathetic, the ads were not memorable, and the half time show - well I am not willing to watch the has-beens. The trash talk was - Wait? There was trash talk?? The playoffs produced one memorable game well actually one memorable quarter. The 2006 NFL post-season and superbowl XLI can't get any worse or can they??

after all the hype, the game was so boring I started looking for some fun in the Ads. Turns out they weren't much better this year so I figured you know what the game might just pick up after the first half so I start looking forward to the rolling stones. turns out they're just a bucnh of wrinkly 60 yr olds (or is it 80?) - well at least they did try. and of course how can i forget the bad calls. it's one thing for a close call to go one team's way, it;s totally another thing when the calls are so blatantly wrong. what a bore. i'm so bored i stayed away from this village since the game! and i'm gonna shut up now.

Ben told Letterman last night that he didn't think he got in, and had they not gotten the call, they would have gone for it anyway...

A heavy one for sure although The Seahawks should pay it for him!

Mike Holmgren made a statement, "I knew going in that we were playing the guys in black & gold. I didn't realize we'd have to play against the guys in the striped shirts, too."

Hahahaha...I wonder what the fine against him will be for saying that.

Cowher said he would have gone for it if Ben didn't get in. Dood, it was on the one inch line if he didn't get in. And that call on Jackson was ATROCIOUS!

Every play you mentioned were TDs (potential tds). Seattle didnt execute all that well on defense when it came to stopping big plays, but the holding calls cost them dearly, and that push off in the end zone by DJ was ridiculous.

As far as Big Ben, that was a tough call, however I think they would have settled for a FG since that play was on 3rd down.

Also lets not forget that catch where I think DJ had one foot in bounds and kicked the pile-on. That should have been reviewed. I never thought the NFL would have so many conspiracies ala the NBA.

Honestly, I didn't think there were that many outrageous calls. Maybe that offensive holding on Locklear but you can probably call offensive holding on every single snap in the NFL. DJ in the end zone too. I thought Big Ben broke the plane in mid air. Even if he didn't, they would have scored on the next play anyway!

I'm still baffled by those calls. As for the clock management, It reminded me off last years Super Bowl, when the Eagles were just as inept.
Congrats to the Steelers.
Anyway, it's off to College Basketball for me..

I my honest opinion, the ball clearly never crossed the goal line on Pittsburgh's first TD (qb draw). How the ref could miss that on review is beyond me. There was talk that that particular ref had the lowest rate of overturned calls of any ref in the NFL and he just wanted to preserve that - even if he was wrong.

Other than the poor officiating, the game was okay. Congrats to the Steelers. The Seahawks' game/time management was highly questionable at the end of the 1st and 2nd halves.

That was a pathetic super bowl. Clearly Seattle was the more consistent team but Steelers made some key big plays. The commercials were not much better. Anyways, props to the Steelers who made one of the most improbable post-season runs. Off to the NFL DRAFT now.

I hear ya. I haven't even been paying attention to this shyt. I mean ESPN is on my TV all day, so is NFL network at 7, i listen to sprts radio in my car every time i'm in it, etc. I just don't care for any type of story they are trying to push. Its like that noise in the background that you hear but don't even pay attention to or realize is there. I'm just looking forward to my 6 foot chicken parm hero on Sunday along with other great junk food and enjoying the game on a 50 inch HD plasma! Thats about it.

Is anyone laughing at how childish, ridiculous and lame the trash talking between Stevens and Porter has become? Porter was just looking for a reason to open his mouth and I do not think Stevens did anything wrong.

The NFL is so desperate for some story lines taht the most interesting talk this week is on TO perhaps going to the Broncos or the Chiefs. Also, ESPN had to air McNabb's interview last night on the downfall of the Eagles last season.

Sunday cant come soon enough this pre-game talk is making me ill.

Sound off!

TOK: so what I am hearing, with all of these problems and holes to fill Giants go 7-8 or 6-10 next season?
ha ha

When did this degenerate into a Giants talk-shop?? Some people! Oh wait it was me... yeah Eli Manning will have a solid Trent Green-like career. He has a bad attitude from day one forcing a trade to NY. Thats why I am not high on him. I think that speaks to a larger point of him not being an entirely "team first" guy. He is young, so maybe he will mature...but I think he rather have Paris Hilton hit on him at the 40/40 club.

Also Barber and Burress had career years. Dont expect that to happen again either. Even with that production, the Giants stunk it up in the playoffs. The window was 2005-2006.
