Surveys: content quality and relevance

The purpose of this post is to share my thoughts with you and get your feedback.

I had created this village as a forum to promote healthy discussion and encourage curious people to post their questions. While, most of the posts are highly relevant and trigger interesting debates, a few posts have been totally irrelevant to the theme of this village.

While I can not judge the quality of questions, I could determine their relevance. For example I can tell that articles written by others and copied and pasted on this village are not related to the purpose of this village. This is not a village to post articles or to chat. Healthy discussions and arguments which are the prominent feature of this village are always welcome. I know this sounds like I am trying to impose censorship but honestly that is not at all the intention.

Please feel free to share your thoughts. You could also write to me in my email if you don't want to comment here. Any ideas and feedback would be highly appreciated.

rating really wouldnt make a different, if one has a stupid or irrlevant comment to make a rating wont hold em back.... dont know if my opinion would make a difference in deciding

Abshaw: I like that whole rating idea...hmm...good idea :) Now we just have to implement it :)

How about a rating system, everyone who posts an article, knows the maturity of the content before hand, so he/she can also mention , PG, PG-10, PG13, or R rated topics for that matter, and lets the kid or adults decide for themselves if they wanna participate?

Happy Friday people :) alright, alright, alright..sorry to have mentioned the age. I was not talking about the buddas here, I was talking about the young ones...anywho, forget about the age..Its friday, lets be happy :) Also, with my experience, there are some JEs that do not interest me and in those, I just dont make any comments on. Thats keeps everyone happy :)

hmmmm about the age limit thing, i think we should take a 'survey' of the average age of people in this village, the average age of 'active' participants and the average age of the non active participants? DOes any one think that it would be a useful post to have up ;)

Stajani, Jamine, I dont' think Aangil want to focus too much on the type of comments people write. I think majority of the time people remain on topic, but there is soo nothing wrong with peolple going off on a tangent once in awhile, besides, someone always comes up and brings things back to the topic at hand. I think Aangils focus is MORE on the quality of the VE entries that are posted........not the comments made in them.

Thanks everybody for your feedback and ideas. From the comments so far, most of us agree that we should stick to the original theme of this village i.e. asking questions and discussing them in detail. Everyone can ask any questions as long as they are not obscene or hurtful. I am confident that discretion and self discipline would be our guiding principles. About articles; I?ll highly appreciate if everybody refrains from posting articles. Articles about surveys (see example www.naseeb.com vlID=979 ) and other arguments and discussions are more than welcome. ________________ We shall keep this a public village as it would give non-members the opportunity to read the content without being a member and join the village only if they like the content. I realize your concerns about age. Fortunately we haven?t experienced such a problem. However, if in the future we see someone acting in an immature way then we would definitely act accordingly. ____________ Thanks JCW for the link. It is very informative and Insha Allah I shall not follow that pattern. ____________ Also, I may contact some of you though email to request you to join as organizers to help with the village. ____________ Thank you very much for your input and great ideas. Once again, the intention of this post was to highlight the purpose and focus of the village i.e. asking questions, getting answers and creating an environment of healthy discussion without wasting our and others? time. Thanks a lot for your participation

Irrelevant posts make me think that people are just bored and want to write for its own sake. My general comment on the posted entries will be that there are a lot of trivial questions, so I don't spend much time in this village.

Its all good as long as we understand each other..Let's chill out :) I have nothing against you, Lilly. You could be one of the nicest people I have'nt met. I hope our discussion gets into a productive output.People do make mistakes? how many times you read AAngil's note when you log in? It's good to remember, however not everyone remembers everything. reminding people could be an idea as well....

I have my all respect for Ifthikar/Aangil. From the beginning he has an honest and noble notion/effort for this village. He introduced and invited more or less everyone known and unknown to him including myslef. He deserves all the right for it and I personally rely on him more than anyone for any advice. Let him listen to us and come up with his views and rules. He is knowledgeable enough and he is a man with integrity.Just add your feedback for him and see how he implements all the ideas.Dont try to impose your own personal views.I said majority must be granted and ofcourse I look forward to hear from Iftikhar

Alrigh Sorry Lilly :) That was loud and clear...so why dont you say something about the topic on hand? I've added my feedback and want to hear yours as well..sometimes discussion may go offtrack that you have to understand...This is not anyone's "University of Discipline" where we are studends and only right we have here is to 'listen' I personally dont know anyone here in Naseeb, when someone ask something while as a part of a discussion,I'm not going to send everyone an email to answer...please dont get me wrong. I 'm not here to disrespect anyone. Its just we have to learn a how to be flexible to an an extent.... What kind of topic was " why men have nipples?" Was that a real issue or vaiid entry? why everyone was quiet when that JE apppeared? I have few female friends that left this village as they were simply disgusted by that entry and left....I hope everyone in this village to be a fair, resepctful and careful when they say something...And I'm here to join anyone that is logical and sensible...Let's make rules in an uniformed fashion first and then follow...

Comments are fine to be long as long as they are informative, interesting and fun.I'm talkin about the JE itself.JEs should'nt be too long..I don't invite anyone to my village. If anyone out there, out of their curiosity want to join, I want them to be members.
