I think I overexaggerated.
we strengthen our Islamic media? Why don't we take that step?
I guess our first Islamic Channel started airing a year ago and I hope all of us would support the Bridges channel.
The next step for us as Muslims in the West is to encourage our youth to major in journalism and to enter this field.
Why is it 99% of the time when Muslims meet a fight happens or an arguement about the STUPIDEST things.
So are your numbers based on a field study or are you guessing? I know we have a problem in our culture, maybe we are a hot blooded people and maybe it is the way for some people to vent out. Islam taught us tolerance and patience, but some Muslims think they will only be heard if they show violence. We need to learn and understand Islam since each individual of us is an ambassador for Islam and Muslims.
Why is it when we read a humiliating article about Islam we just let it be? Why don't we write back and say "No, thats not what we are, THIS is what we are?"
Each one of us is waiting for others to do that job on our behalves.

Well, until we speak up, thats all they are gonna judge on.
I had a semi-slit in my skirt that day I was talking to the people and I was like "Look, I have a slit in my skirt, do you see any beat marks on me?'
I'm waaay passed that, and I told my professers beating a woman or any person for that matter is not Islamic.
But what tickes me off is the unity that we lack
all of these points can be countered.
-The incidient where women are beaten if they show their legs happened only in one country and not every islamic country. they can not blanket judge all of islam just based on that.
- Women are beaten raped and abused in the US by drunken husbands and fatheres in the western world more than other places in the world. We do not have this problem at all in any muslim country.
- 1 out of 4 women in the US will be raped in her life time, mostly be someone she knows. these astronomical numbers never existed and never will exist in the muslm world.
Why can't we strengthen our Islamic media? Why don't we take that step? Why is it 99% of the time when Muslims meet a fight happens or an arguement about the STUPIDEST things. Why is it that when someone doesn't agree with us we don't hesisate using our most disguisting and degrading words and curse the other persons' mother or sister? Why is it when we read a humiliating article about Islam we just let it be? Why don't we write back and say "No, thats not what we are, THIS is what we are?" I'm relating this more to the youth since some peaple give an excuse to the older people are uneducated and came from a third world country.
I feel your frustration, but the problem is not in Islam it is within the people who practice Islam. The other problem is our weak Islamic media and the strong biased Western media.
Women abuse is a problem in both the Eastern and the Western cultures, but it is only linked to Islam in the Eastern cultures.
We need to have a vision about how to change ourselves and how to win the Media war.
I was talking to my Psychology professor and another professor the other day. I was there to review for my midterm and the subject of Islam came up.
They asked so many questions as to why women are beaten if they show their legs, or why the Danish embassy was burnt for a cartoon.
I told them that this was not an accurate representation of Islam and that Islamically we aren't supposed to kill people nor are we supposed to beat women. In fact women in Islam are keep their own property, they can keep their maiden names, etc.
One of the professors then said, "If this is Islam, it angers me that no one does anything about it. To change what we see in the media and make it more accurate."
and I was just speechless, I mean some of our parents and their friends are 'closeminded' but why do we choose to keep this closeminded-ness?
Why don't we get aside our differences and fight for a common cause?
I think you guys get what Im trying to say.
Oh and Mr. Tarek, Im sorry for stealing your thunder. I just wanted to vent about this issue.
