TABOO - MEETING IRC PPL IN REAL LIFE

Ok I can guarantee all of you have done this. I am willing to bet Violex's left cheek... );

Who did you meet (if you would like to indulge us...if not..privacy is understandable)/ How was the experience/ Did you learn from the experience (like never again... ufff?)/ Did you marry /date anyone? ETC...

One thing I will indulge is I did get a lot of free dinners from IRC...But was it worth it..hmmm :#

Oh and for the record.. I think I must've met close to 40 people off IRC/AIM/MSN... As long as there is an endless supply of impressionable young girls... but I digress...

Hmm, such an interesting topic. Well, I can't list all the folks (men and women) that I met from #pakistan b/c I can't remember. I do however remember being disappointed quite a few times and I don't mean that they turned out to be not so good looking but just the personality was not there - I guess people were really good in pretending to be something they totally weren't. One very interesting meeting comes to mind with this young guy who shall remain nameless. In a nutshell, he turned out to be the geekiest guy I have ever met, he slouched, no confidence, very shy, looked no more than 15 and had ABSOLUTELY nothing to say. I felt like his mother! After our very brief meeting, he called me right away and asked if I wanted to see him again and I said I was "busy" and then I get an email that he is in LOVE with me. I felt really bad for him but I had to put a stop to it and so I let him down gently but knowing some of these guys, he didn't get it. I was then quite firm with him and then pata hai uss nay kya kaha??? He said something like, "fine! I loved you like a sister anyway" Man there were some real crazies on that channel. And what's up with guys falling in love with you after one date -- happened more than I would have liked. Again, completely another topic of discussion. Oh well! I have many stories, another time perhaps.

oh yeh, I met Beela and Yasmeen at that Chicago ISNA. It was lame trip, cept for that meeting, of course.
And considering Houston was a hub of a lot of IRCers I have met quite a few.

screw the taboo!

shoot ..everything I typed just got deleted...
Let me start over again. Dont mind the fragments...

Meow- that would be an awesome idea ..if you find any logs you can post them on a new JE. I do remember you and always felt bad when those lamers would put you on Autokick. Some of them were jerks.
Im surprised I never met you though. But back then girls didnt really interact with girls because there were so few of us.

As for violex - just met him finally. But he met my x best friend Rabya at the parade as he mentioned. Back then it wasnt cool to be an ircer so I guess thats why she said she didnt chat. People assumed that you had some sort of social-interaction phobia. Believe me, we would get laughed at all the time.

I met Poond recently (hes here on naseeb and was invited) aka Invader.

The first ircer I met was Karachi (asif from njit) for dinner (back then we were broke and hungry..) After our date they called him "zulfay" which is a long story and im sure a lot of you already know ... I actually irced while he was there.
The second I met was TheDeep from #india and some of his friends.
Then I met a whole lot after - (mostly NJIT ppl) like bilal from njit, sohail from njit, faheem from Staten island and even my X husband (wont mention that nick) . Sometimes I think I only got married for OPs.

I became friends with Qatil, Ntrigue (on naseeb as Ntrigue), Mithai, and my bestttttttest westest friend Dost (sumair).

One day I woke up and realized that you really shouldnt meet ppl (One-on-One) off of IRC because it was Taboo and then rumors would spread... but I guess I never learned my lesson or perhaps we are more mature now because we meet still meet naseebers, as well as people off of shaadi.com, match.com etc... The only difference is we have a face to put to the name.

Hmmm.....My cheek and your.... :P

Well....I met bunch of people off IRC but u are right, it was taboo for anyone so it was all under cover operation...sort of

AOL ruined it but back then, people were eager to meet and greet....then came some bad stories also but all in all, those were all good experience.

The first time I approached Sara's ex friend, I almost got beat up by her people as she tried to "hide" the fact she was on computer talking to anyone, if not many people. Oh well....I learned my lesson, never to approach a girl in Pakistan Day Parade and ask if she was on IRC...heheh :)

Okay this another girl...on DalNet...we became friends, then more than friends, online and on the fone, I know how gay but hey :P Next thing I know...she was from Overseas and moved here to America....then came full blown dating and then the Big question: "Do you want to marry me or not"?

But things didn't get far and only downhill for me as it wasn't going to happen for me. I had a talk with her father and he rejected me on this fact that I knowingly had a relationship with his daughter when he didn't approve it. (How the hell was I suppose to know that he knew but he insisted I knew that he knew...I know..complicated)

Well anyways, I loved the girl to death but now, I'm a mammo of a sweet boy! I know how sad but thats life. We can't even talk though....cuz that would upset her father and her husband. After that major event in my life, I didn't really make any effort to meet anyone else.

So thats the my story, whats urs? Jeez...Anyone wants to make a movie out of this? :P

oh yeah by total coincidence, i met cows/er2g (univ of virginia), who is known as aamiriamnot here on naseeb, at a new years eve party in orlando several yrs ago. we knew that we were both going to be in orlando at the same time... i was there visiting my dad and other relatives, he was down there on vacation with his family. turns out we were invited to this family's house for a small NYE gathering, and cows + his family were staying at that family's house. so when i saw the white accord with virginia plates (i knew what kind of car he drove), i was like, no frickin way!! you should've seen the look on his face when i introduced myself to him.

i had sincere intentions to marry a gal i met on IRC in 1994, but after a few years, things didn't work out... i wasn't anywhere near ready to make the plunge. i remember when i told my cousin and a friend about this at the time... this was when many ppl didn't even know what the WWW was. they couldn't believe it and made so much fun of me. it wasn't socially acceptable to do that sort of thing back then... you were considered to be socially inept or a hardcore geek. today it's a different story, of course.

alright i gotta dig through the vaults in order to come up with answers to these questions... memory's a lil rusty, to say the least. i met several folks at ISNA in 1994 (Chicago) and a few years later in Columbus, OH. including qasim and his sis maryum, faheem, ahsan, NTT, and a few others but i don't remember their nicks. also met some of the chicago area gals since they lived relatively near.

Well, seeing as how I was up in the Great White North, there weren't a lot of other Canadians on IRC...or, they were all from Toronto.

I met Yasmeen from Edmonton, which is only 3 hours drive from here.

I met my friend Salma, who one day popped on to IRC for the first time and wanted to know if anyone was from Calgary as she was moving here...been friends for almost 7 years now.

Met Noreen when I was visiting my cousin in Dallas.

Met a handful of people at ISNA in 1998, or maybe it was 1997...I forget. I only went once. I'm pretty sure I met Hataf, and Adeel (I think) let me borrow the McDonald's paper bags to make shoes because I'd left mine in the room and wanted to use the bathroom and I didn't want to go barefoot. I met Ahsan through Yasmeen at ISNA, and quite a few other IRC people via Yasmeen....

And, I met my best friend, who shall remain anonymous to respect his privacy.

That's all I can remember.
