Takin it to the Streets: IMAN (Innercity Muslim Action Network)'s most popular and well-known project is a day long FREE community festival held every other summer in Marquette Park on Chicago's Southwest Side. This event unites thousands of people fromall over the Chicagoland area in a day of festivities, musical performances, sports tournaments & carnivals.

Salman- thaaaaaaaanks :) ... i had a dream that i was swimming in a chocolate tower... it was beautiful... seriously, that's the best stuff on earth! Hot pink? bushra's shirt? :)

Umm have I re-iterated how proud I am of Heenz and Foz, by the way Heenz, two words to sum up Sunday, Hot Pink! and oh yeah 2 more Chocolate Tower! =)

Newmuslim- i can't even imagine... it must have really been a beautiful experience...mA.. :) I don't know when the next volunteer meeting is..how it works is that if you've attended one, and got yourself on a committee, then you just work w/ each other and you don't have to attend another one. You might want to try and calling the number above and ask for Sister Mona, tell her your situation and she will prolly be able to give you better suggestions on how you can help. If you have any more Q's, ask awaaaaaaaay :)

InshaAllah we will see another conversion there.. I think this event was the best place for me to convert. I got to see so many people, it was amazing... I want to volunteer Heenz, I emailed IMAN but have been unable to attend the meetings. (I am looking for a job and have a bit of an unstable schedule plus I'm in school)When is the next volunteer meeting?

Amer- yea, they really have. they're very active, mA. I've recently gotten really involved w/ them, and i really like and respect everything they do. Inshallah may Allah (swt) reward their efforts. Thanks for the post. :)

seems like you guys have been to Takin it to the Streets in the past... well, i just moved here, so it'll be my first time attending and organizing as well.. iA there'll be a conversion/s this year as well. :)
