Thanks all for the good advice. I moved into the Clarendon area in Arlington last week and love it so far.

The move from Philly was a little tough though. The movers broke my DVD player and lost my favorite painting. My two cats are still hiding and I dinged my new car the first time backing out of my (miniscule) parking spot in the building's garage.

I'm hoping this week will be a little less stressful. Anyway, I'd love to meet some of you folks. Have there been any DC Naseeb events? If not maybe we could try to organize one?

Let me know if there's any interest.

Hey Laila3 I coulda told you the parking lots and roadways of Arlington would mess up your car. I paid about 2000$ for car repairs from bouncin off the lot ramps. The traffic also kinda sux in the area. I just had a accident last Thursday...another $2k waisted away all in the name of Livin' in the city! Oh wellz life goes on. Let me know the next time you guys hang out around Clarendon. ([email protected])

Laila73, I could not make it there too. I got stuck at work. I heard that it was ok. Wish I could have made it there. There is always next time. I agree with Nasreen234, the best way to get to know the area is to drive around and get lost. I have been in the DC area for last 22 years, and I love drive and find new places to hang out, eat, shop and do fun stuff. You will enjoy it. Welcome again.

hey, salaams - im a lurker here mainly bc i haven't yet moved to dc (in a couple months, inshallah).last summer, i went to one of the muslim bar association meetings - it's pretty small, so i didn't really meet many people, but i definitely met a few. their next meeting is july 14 at 7:00pm at mehran's restaurant in foggy bottom... just thought i'd pass that on in case you were interested. if you go, do let me know how it was :)

Laila,

Welcome to the area! I'm glad that you already like the area. Like Nasreen has said, there's lots of stuff going on. Sometimes, its officially organized through organizations and other times, its just a whole bunch of friends & naseeb friends getting together.

Nasreen is a social butterfly, she knows all that is happening and usually organizing lots of gatherings.

There's a Indian movie being shown on sunday that I'm planning on going and I think Nasreen is gonna be there. I'm planning on tagging along. :~)

Friend4u2, I couldn't make the CAMP picnic. How was it?

Thanks Nasreen. I'm slowly learning my way around. Where do you live in DC?
