That charity night ...

I understand one of the organisers (Labina/Labs) of the charity event on the 27th of November of 2005 is a regular poster here. Can anyone please tell what has happened to the money ? 4 months on and still nothing has been handed over to charity ..this is a quite shameful and wicked situation. Is someone sitting on the money or kept it for themselves and spent it ? Until this situation is sorted out it will forever be a noose round your neck ..people do not forget and if someone has pocketed the money for themselves I do not even understand how they can sleep at night knowing the people they conned and the suffering the earthquake has caused and is still causing.

I see ...so once again when it comes to taking the final step and actually telling us how much was raised for charity that night (and also enabling us to verify it), the organisers suddenly go all shy and quiet. Six months after the event and with people still suffering from the earthquake the 150 or so people that went and donated in good faith are still waiting to hear what has happened to the money. Why is it proving so hard to get this information ? All this does is fuel the suspicion that the money has gone astray ....and your lack of an answer will mean the finger of suspicion will always be on the organisers ...including from your friends. Those that have been quick to defend this situation after 6 months .will you be so sure nothing untoward has happened and so quick to defend it when we are still met with silence after 12 months ? 18 months ?

This will keep coming up ...the longer it goes on the less people will be able to defend you and the more suspicious even those closest to you will become ...if it hasnt already its only a matter of time that this spills over into your real world ...the non naseeb people you know will get to hear the suspicions surrounding you ..and it will even spread to family and your employers that the money from a charity night you organised went missing and you refuse to explain where ..without giving us answers you will forever be assoicated with the word 'crook' and the worst kind of crook ..the kind of crook that couldnt tell the people what has happened to money meant for charity.

Hello ?? Could you please just take the next little step and provide those extra details so we can end the cloud of suspicion and rumour regarding the money from the charity night. Just saying the name of 2 charities is not quite enough as am sure you will appreciate, we would like to know how much was raised from the night and verify it with the charities. Surely not too much more trouble as long as their is nothing to hide. As soso786 mentioned in the other Je its this lack of forthcoming information that only fuels the fire of suspicion ..simply let us know the extra details, let us verify and thats the end of the matter.

Labina baji gave it to me so I could kit out the lounge with a screen projector connected to an x-box 360 and afree floating body suit with full sensory detection throwing me into every game out there :)

Oh wait, that was just my day dreaming. It would help that you investigae before you lambast people with accusations. May Allah help us all, amen!

p.s for soso786, I cannot post on your JE. Thank you for providing me with those details. I have no connection with the law hence my mistake in thinking trading standards would deal with this . Fortunately as you can see some progress is now being made in resolving this amicably and as long as that continues to be the case there will certianly be no need to seek legal redress.

Thank you for acknowledging this journal and furnishing us with some detail. May I ask the amounts paid to the charities and the date and please who the cheque was payable from? This is only so that I can call the charities mentioned and verify that cheques for the amounts were paid to them. This is not intended to be a witch hunt or anything personal we just want to know that the money raised that night has gone to charity and once that is verified as far as we are concerned that is the end of the matter. Thanks in advance.

the reason we have a right to be angry is that 6 months after the event no money has been handed to charity and no explanation of why or where the money is ..that is why we have a right to be angry.

Is your anger because you think I am someone with a personal issue or vendetta against the organisers ? Are you putting that before the bigger picture of handing money over to charity ? If it makes you feel better I can assure you this is nothing personal , I have no personal issues with the organisers. Read thru my posts ...does it look like I am doing this for some personal vendetta ?? Have I rised to your insults , no I havent. I re-iterate I have no personal vendetta here . If it makes you feel better feel free to post on another village somewhere what the current state of affairs is so it doesnt look like you are responding to this. I really dont care about what u do to 'save face' I really don't care ..we are simply people who went that night and donated money and now we want to know where it is . Is that such a crime ?

the onus is not on me to prove who I am, the onus is on you to tell the people that went where the money is. You were all quite happy to publicise the event everywhere and tell everyone yet now you are suddenly very shy about telling everyone where the money is.

Why is it other charity events quite quickly and publicly tell everyone what has happened with the money but not so here ??

If my posting this has caused undue distress to anyone that has done nothing wrong then I here and now issue a personal and unreserved apology. And will do so again if it is shown that nothing untoward has happened.

I have no personal issue or vendetta with you Afaq or anyone associated with the event. Now please I implore you , please we have a right to know, end the rumours end the cloud of suspicion tell us all publicly in anyway you see fit that explains and verifies to us what the current state of affairs is regarding the money from that charity night.

I have seen what is happening over there and am personally connected , I am on my hand and knees and begging you to tell us. What more do you want ? Blood ?

miss freak of nature I was about to address your point when Afaq has graciously jumped in and helped me address your point. Look through my posts and read ..are they of someone looking to stir something up ? Or someone who is here that went to the charity night is representing the people that went to the charity night, have personal connections with those that suffered in the quake and that want to simply know what has happened to the money. Are my posts full of direct and personal attacks and foul language or someone simply angry at the current state of affairs ?

In fact where is it that you see the direct, confrontational and personal insults coming from ? Afaq, who claims to be one of the organisers (thats news to me). And again I am not going to rise to his personal attack (which if i were simply looking to stir things up then I would surely?) . Why are you (Afaq) reacting so angrily, you have nothing to be angry about , we are the angry ones and we have every right to be angry!

Afaq, instead of making personal attacks if you are in the know with the organisers why not simply just tell us where the money is , wouldnt that be easier? Yes you do have a duty to explain this, you have a duty to explain it to everyone that went and donated on that night. I would have thought that is obvious.

man are u still yapping?

fon, no point. in the amount of time hes done this he could have raised enough money to save a life of a child in a developing country.

go take your topi off sid1234 and actually go DO something. Allah knows best and we dont need to prove ourselves to ignoramouses who are so struck by a state of denial and complete inability to accept a good deed can be done by people he doesnt like that hes just wasted some server space on naseeb.com lol

well i guess i can't argue with what you've said SID.....it all does make sense....

however, hasn't this all stemed from certain relationships that were formed, in order to get the charity event off the ground, which have now gone sour (for want of a better) and therefore, the ACTUAL purpose of this VE isn't to find out whats happened to the charity money, but bascially to sh*t stir, for want of a better word.

Agreed , but the problem is the lack of transparancy and public accountability, combined with their total lack of respect in answering any emails, or phone calls or JE/Ve's in regard to this subject, or just posting up a JE/Ve giving us the current status. Add to that the rumour and it really doesnt look good. Most charity events announce on the night what has been raised and produce a cheque soon after that can be verified with the charity. Even if none of the people that have pledged are paying up then name and shame to get them to pay. Also what of the cash paid at the door (yes they took cash at the door from the 150 or so people that came). Where has that gone ? If its gone to cover certain costs then tell us what they are. If there is even a small amount of money that can go to the charity left over after the costs and without pledges then hand it over , they need it !

Finally , what is wrong with giving us a status update? That so much to ask? you would think if they have nothing to hide they would be quick to quash the rumours and explain the situation and give us regular updates rather then let themselves hang under this cloud of suspicion.

I ask again, the organisers are reading this, if you have nothing to hide, tell us where the money is! Simple.

hmm interesting.....although SID i don't think any of the organisers would have pocketed the money, and if they have, then like you said earlier they'll have to be answerable to the Almighty.

BUT i do know that monies pledged at charity events can sometimes take months, if not yrs, to collect and then ventually send on to the appropriate charity/charities.

Maybe the organisers are still 'chasing etc' and until they have like a finally figure, probably don't want to mentioned anything, since its not their fault if people have not forwarded what they've pledged...right?

No announcement or effort has been made at any point to tell us how much has been raised. Over a hundred or so people turned up paying 25 pounds a head, there was an auction, which on the night raised over a thousand pounds, as well as a fashion show etc. We were told a business was going to double the amount raised. There were also rumours at the event that all was not right, so much so that a lot of people who were going to come didn't come.

There have been many who have asked and emailed and met with silence. This has come up before ...look at the entry on the jalebi gang village titled '27th nov charity night' , also more recently someone put a post up (that was soon removed) ..which had a picture of two of the organisers and a 'Wanted' sign above them accusing them of being thieves.

i mean in terms of how much had been raised at that point in time?
