i don't believe wisdom or other things come with age...yah gray hair and wrinkles perhaps:) lame joke, i know.
anyhow, i've seen guys who are so immature for their 30 and guys with wisdom tooth at 24, meaning mature/smart...it's obvious that the upbringing and environment plays a crucial role in our development, and there is no stopping young ones to learn the realities of life far better than the adults...

personally i would want someone about the same age as myself as I could relate to her more...but if i am to find someone couple of years older/younger whom i could connect with at the same level, then i wouldn't care.

In response to Plato's journal:

Well everyone gives example of the Holy Prophet PBUH.........but he Was the Holy Prophet and I imagine
wise and mature and blessed with many super duper qualities so you cant really compare to the average 20 -30 yr old guy of nowadays. No offence to you Plato, or
other young folk on this website.
Secondly I myself feel a younger guy getting interested or rushing things may itself represent sign of immaturity and as the older person feel its my responsibility to prevent that person from doing something foolish, which he may regret as he ages. Thirdly, its distasteful to think of yourself as "cradle-snatcher" and may prevents me from reciprocating interest. Fourthly if the guy is Not stable in career Plus good looking , I ask myself some serious questions, does the person have enough redeeming qualities for it to not bother me what people will say..............ofcourse it might be different if it was as easy for women to think/feign themselves in love, in which case probably all these factors may not seem important. But I think older women tend to make such decisions using mind not just heart.

And I do agree....that there is lot more than age just being a number from practical point of view......one may become cynical, rigid in habits and views, mistrusting or acquire other negative qualities along with (hopefully) many positives with age and experience .
And then ofcourse impact of age is greater on women as the biological clock clicks louder for them :)

I wanna get in on this one.

first off -
Oasis is wrong, age is more than a number.
while relationships are based on things more important than the year of birth, time spent bumbling around this world gives people perspectives and experiences taht influence the way they see the world, experience teaches judgement, and sets down habits that may be hard to break, that will influence relationships.

age itself isn't the problem, but alot of things come with age. Wisdom and wealth are two of the better ones, but habits, cynicism, and patterns of behavior are others.

ehtesh - i'm sure u judge fellow human beings as well. otherwise you could not have an idea of who are good people to be friends with,... what girl is compatible with you for a relationship... etc. yes, in the end only God can judge who goes to heaven or hell, but here on Earth we are here to help each other be better people as well as (mainly) working on ourselves. We can't do that without some type/form of judging of others.

mysticlvr: i meant judging fellow human beings...yes i judge actions and food on a daily basis.

and i agre with oasis - age isnt important - maturity is. u can have a 30 year old who acts 12. but all things considered... assuming the guy acted his age... i'd prefer to go no lower than 4 or so years younger and 9 or so years older. PREFER - but not a rule.

iman05 - i totally agree with what u have said here in the comments about being independent.

Ehteshamfarooq - there is no such thing as not judging. when deciding what u want to eat, you are judging the food - and judging isnt always bad. recognizing what is bad/good and judging an action are what help us to be better people. so i wouldnt be so quick to put the halo on and claim u dont judge.

Age is nothing but a number because relationships are based on things that are far more important then the year of your partner's birth

Although thats a popular phrase among desee men,
its a Bad sign. Lack of judgment...............makes psychiatrists think of Dementia or Psychosis.

You missed the sarcasm in that original line......but thats the word people use and like you, assume the rest. :) And if i agreed i wudnt have said I find it annoying.

And atleast for myself .....many times in life total strangers who later became friends, sometimes belonging to different culture, religion and nation have helped and given good advice if they share the environment, the moment or the issue with you much better than family. And if naseeb is only place I come across moslems, single working women or like minded
individuals why not have a discussion here? And that doesnt imply I am " dependent on total strangers",
my ultimate decisions are made by my grey matter,
ofcourse with Supreme guidance.

then why would you describe yourself as independant. one is dependant on their family or friends but to be dependant on total stranger on a website; i have doubts that independance is actualy independant in any relative form.

Login to find out (August 13, 2005 at 2:59am)
it depends it takes a while for a lot of guys to mature so I perfer older guys

Login to find out (August 13, 2005 at 1:26am)
Thats part of the fallacy .......independence is a relative term, no one is completely self reliant except the Almighty. And No one is wise enough to not need advice.

oh an "independant" woman asking for "naseeber input" :P

And by the way Decentguy, yes a lot 40 yr olds maybe happy married to gals half their age but u think the gals are happy too?? I have my doubts, unless its truly by choice and not coz the parents find the guy more eligible
for not-so-worthy reasons.

I agree; I think in this day and age having highly significant difference age might be a problem for people relating to each other. But it depends. If the person is right out of high school, that makes a much bigger difference then when looking at, say, two people who are twenty years apart but have similar education, culture, work and both are out of high school/college.

I think a few years difference - i.e. say, less than ten or around five, in either direction is generally not very significant.
