the disengagement.

this promises to be interesting.

i'll be in palestine inside of 3 weeks. i can't wait. it's usually easier to follow news of whats going on in palestine, when you are not in palestine. so i'll have no idea how this is all going during the months and a bit that i'm there, unless something happens close to home.

still.
interesting.
wonder how it'll all turn out.

Lets see if it isnt Gaza First and Gaza Last. I think what would happen is that they will try delaying Westbank withdrawl, and also try grab east Jerusalem and other parts of WB. When the Palestenens would retaliate, they would put all blame on them and thus the Status Quo.....

*sigh* I need to get in on the 'visiting the motherland' action. My sister is off to India & Kashmir for a year and I'm stuck in Bushville (and not the good kind Bvsl!)

the contrast bween the booming economic activity of ramallah and the resounding signs of occupation such as occasional roadblocks and curfews is hard hitting. every other person in ramallah has a relative or a friend in the US so everyone is pretty much "connected". despite these apparent signs of material comfort, the corruption and internal disputes remain the region's greatest economic leakage and its worst political liability
