The Future Of Communications
Internet Telephony... it's here and it's growing.
So imagine wi-fi spots becoming ever present: news.bbc.co.uk
So imagine if you have an internet-capable mobile, such as one of these for example: shop.orange.co.uk
So you walk into a wi-fi spot with an internet ready mobile.
You have one of these installed: www.skype.com or www.google.com
You call someone who also has Skype or Google Talk installed, and you have no bill to pay.
Free telephony!
Alternatively, you can write letters, Morse code, pigeon messaging, or try two plastic cups and bloody long piece of string.

As for brain tumour...
...
...
...but doesn't everything yada yada yada :P
Apparently the industry is optimistic
(3G? news.bbc.co.uk)
and does it have a screening type thing?
For wi-fi, I don't think lines are needed.
Google Talk is owned by, well, Google, and you know what their financial situation.
Skype was bought recently by Ebay for $3.6 billion (+ $1.5 billion over the next 4 years, I think)
As for satellites beaming down wireless fidelity, I think these are usually joint ventures from various different companies/investors/VSs that invest now, and will reap huge rewards (so they think) later on when premium subscription money starts rolling in.
someone's gotta be paying for the lines right?
who pays upkeep?
