Hi Meech: i gave the Danish Consul to NYC the lowdown in Diplomacy 101. he said the Danish PM was right to refuse to meet with the muslim ambassadors as they asked him to make some ?unfathomable? things such as punish the newspaper. So I told him, that any leader of a nation must see the ambassadors stationed in his country. I told him that I read in his bios that he had extensve mideast experience?he served in iraq and Saudi. So I told him that maybe if the PM had staff people with Mideast experience such as yourself he would have probbly gathered that NOT only the cartoons were so offensive to Muslims but also Arabic pride is a major element, especially when ambassadors are REBUFFED by the leader of the host nation. I told him what the PM SHOULD HAVE DONE is to say ?well I cant do what u ask me to do in the letter but I am willing to invite you to my office and we can talk i.e.. DIALOGUE? . This way u show the ambassadors that even though u don?t wanna entertain what they asked u to do, u counter by reaching out to them and have dialogue to show u are not rebuffing them. No wonder they were pissed off. The refusal to see them was an affront to them and to their nations.
