ok it is good in ways, but I just can not get over the dialouge in these episodes ... it is way over the top .. every time something happens ... everyone has a sheksperian thing to say ... how in the hell stupid low ranked solgers get that? and that starbuck ... she is suposed to be super gourgous. ... girl genous and super girl all in one. can fight like a street dog yet supposidly remians sexy as hell ... these way out there things that bothers me about the show ... yea some topics are close to our life .. but the charcters and how they talk is far from it ...

Fihsak: The new series is based off the old one... but it is a completely different series altogehter. The premise is the same (surviving humanity chased by evil robots. and in the end they will make it through), but the execution is completely different (read: sleeper cells, torture, pregnant cylons, dying president). Season 1 and first half of season 2 is out on dvd.. go for it :)

i think we had this discussion before. The stargate series definitly has more techno-babble, but techno-babble is not what makes for a good scifi series. There is a reason why Galactica is the number one show according to Time and also has better ratings on SciFi channel than Stargate series. It is cos it is not stereotypical, has a much more compelling storyline and actually deals with issues we face today (but set in a different world).

fyi... 2nd season continues this jan... 3rd season will start in august i think.

I agree its cheesy but it has its moments. Its deviated a lot from the original and thats whats making me watch it. Although I have to admit, I havent seen completely seen any of the 2 seasons. I've only watched a few episodes from each season. If I were to count, I would probably say I have seen a total of 5 or 6 episodes in all excluding the pilot (lack of time). But since the story is so predictable and follows a progression, its easy to catch upto.
I am hoping that with this 3rd season I might be able to watch even though I know its going to be very hard.
The SciFi Genre has a lot going for it these days.

Galactica is growing on me and am getting to like it. I still think it is still too cheesy and the characters are to cartoonish. Every other line is a clich? and above that the actors are over acting ..
I am looking forward to seeing the new episodes of SG1 and Atlantic, They are much more of sci-fi than Galactica.

Battlestar Galactica was voted by Times magazine as the best tv series for the year 2006... not best scifi series... but best tv series.... people watch it!!!

-- from above link:
Adapted from a cheesy '70s Star Wars clone of the same name, Galactica (returning in January) is a ripping sci-fi allegory of the war on terror, complete with religious fundamentalists (here, genocidal robots called Cylons), sleeper cells, civil-liberties crackdowns and even a prisoner-torture scandal.

new episode comes out 6th Jan.

I am waiting for BattleStar Galactica.

Funny thing is I've seen the original and I know whats going to happen but yet I want to see this version. I am still on the fence as far as Starbuck is concerned. Dirk Benedict has always been Starbuck in my mind. But like Soup in a pot the new Starbuck is hot.
