The Ottoman Empire..

Sultan Suleyman The Magnificant.

November 6, 1494 ? 5/6 September 1566,

Suleyman in his time was regarded as the most significant ruler in the world, by both Muslims and Europeans. His military empire expanded greatly both to the east and west, and he threatened to overrun the heart of Europe itself.

Suleyman had many titles; in inscriptions he calls himself:
Slave of God, powerful with the power of God, deputy of God on earth, obeying the commands of the Qur'an and enforcing them throughout the world, master of all lands, the shadow of God over all nations, Sultan of Sultans in all the lands of Persians and Arabs, the propagator of Sultanic laws the tenth Sultan of the Ottoman Khans, Sultan, son of Sultan, Suleyman Khan.

Slave of God, master of the world, I am Suleyman and my name is read in all the prayers in all the cities of Islam. I am the Shah of Baghdad and Iraq, Caesar of all the lands of Rome, and the Sultan of Egypt. I seized the Hungarian crown and gave it to the least of my slaves.

Under his leadership, the Ottoman Empire reached its zenith and became a world power, and Suleiman was considered one of the preeminent rulers of 16th Century Europe

When I studied world history in the US, whether be it in high school or universities, much of the Islamic History were totally ignored.

the ottomans are definately one of the most neglected eras of world history

much of europe owes to them, they were in hungary, ukraine, greece, russian caucuases, albania, macedonia, kosovo, bosnia, serbia, most of these regions for almost 400 years practically up to WWI.. its interesting to travel to these regions and see their influence..

its too bad this is blotted out from world history and their achievements and legacy are not recognized

Yes may Allah have mercy on him, but he like many other Ottoman sultans failed to propagate Tawheed. This actuality caused the real demise of the Ottomans. The Prophet (sall allahu alay wa salam) said that his Ummah will NOT unite upon error. The Ottomans, given their enormous size, failed to capitalize and propagate the deen accordingly. Admitingly, the Ottomans did bring the some of the people of the Balkans to Islam however these effects were at most mediocre, hardly leaving a strong foothold. This is due largely to the structure of the mysterious Ottoman ulema. A large portion of the Janissary corp, the elite Ottoman military unit, were attached to various Bektashi mystical orders that were involved not only in outright bidah that contradicted the Sunnah, but they were also involved in mystical chants and rituals that were totally foreign to Islam. Hence, the Ottomans were already sowing the seeds of their own eventual downfall.
