The Plague

authored by Al Camus

I'm almost done reading it. I want to talk about it. Anyone here ever read it? Thoughts?

Ugh! That's what I hate about Camus, he is such a pessimist! Wanted to slit my wrists after reading The Fall (okay not really) :)

Camus' existentialist views can sound depressing at the intial level. But it's really not that depressing. You just have to stop searching for reasons and meanings in life :D

yeah, typical in that it deals with the underside of human feeling. but I thought that there was actually more humanity and compassion in The Plague than in the other works I've read. it's been soo long since I read The Stranger, though. The Fall was definitely along similar lines of typically depressing Camus.

ah L'etranger....read it in my OAC french class (before they got rid of OAC that is). Loved it. Haven't read the plague though..is it typical Camus?

Decent book. Got rather boring. Probably my own fault. Camus' 'The Stranger' was of course one of those life-changing ones. Kick-asc!
